Pacifiers can be a lifesaver for soothing, but timing matters. 🍼

👉 In the early weeks, it’s best to wait until breastfeeding is well-established (about 3–4 weeks).
👉 Once your supply and your baby’s latch are steady, many families use them successfully without issues.

💛 If you’re unsure about when—or how—to introduce a pacifier, our IBCLCs can give you personalized guidance for your baby’s needs.

👉 Some parents notice a small boost.
👉 For others, results are minimal.
👉 The most reliable way to increase supply? Frequent, effective milk removal + skilled lactation support.

❓ Did you know… you don’t have to be pregnant to make breast milk?

Through a process called inducing lactation, many parents are able to bring in a milk supply and nurse their babies—even if they haven’t given birth.

✨ Adoptive parents, surrogacy families, non-gestational partners, and transgender or non-binary parents have all created beautiful feeding relationships through inducing lactation.

It’s not one-size-fits-all, and every journey looks different. That’s why working with an IBCLC can help you find the approach that’s right for you.

It can be frustrating when your baby latches... then unlatches. Over and over again.

💡 The truth is: there’s no one reason this happens—and it doesn’t always mean there’s a supply issue.

Here are some common causes for frequent unlatching:
🔹 Letdown is too fast or too slow — baby may pull off to cope
🔹 Discomfort or tension — from gas, reflux, or a body imbalance
🔹 Shallow latch — makes it hard to stay on the breast
🔹 Distractions — especially as babies grow older and more curious
🔹 Oral anatomy — like a tongue tie or tight jaw
🔹 Low flow — baby gets frustrated if milk slows down

✨ The good news? If unlatching is frequent, stressful, or affecting feedings, our IBCLCs can help figure out why—and guide you toward a calmer, more effective nursing rhythm.

✨ Think inducing lactation isn’t possible? Let’s bust a few myths.

🚫 You don’t have to be pregnant to make milk.
🚫 You don’t need a “full supply” for it to matter.
🚫 It’s not too late if your baby is already here.

✅ With the right support, many parents—adoptive, surrogate, non-gestational, transgender, and non-binary—are able to create a meaningful feeding relationship through inducing lactation.

Every journey is unique, and you don’t have to figure it out alone. 💛

Gas is a normal part of babyhood—but when your little one is super fussy, arching their back, or passing gas all day long, it’s worth a closer look. 👀

Excessive gas can be caused by:
🔹 Swallowed air from a shallow latch
🔹 Fast letdown or oversupply causing gulping
🔹 Bottle feeding technique or ni**le flow
🔹 Digestive development (which is still maturing!)
🔹 Body tension or need for bodywork (especially after a tough birth)

Some gas is expected—but if your baby is uncomfortable after every feed or frequently waking due to tummy troubles, we can help.

Our IBCLCs assess latch, feeding positions, bottle technique, and more to help ease gas and reduce discomfort for everyone.

💨 Let’s get to the bottom of the t***s.

Celebrated August 25th - 31st, Black Breastfeeding Week (B*W) is designed to highlight the unique challenges Black breastfeeding families face and to celebrate their triumphs. B*W is necessary because of the racial disparity that exists in the initiation and duration of breastfeeding. It is also important because of the complex and traumatic history of Black women and breastfeeding. *W2023
