A quick daily clean can make a big difference. 🧼

Wiping your hearing aids with a soft, dry cloth at the end of each day helps remove oils, moisture, and debris that can affect sound quality. Keeping microphone ports and wax traps clear allows your devices to work the way they’re meant to, consistently and clearly.

Think of it like brushing your teeth: a little daily care goes a long way. 👂✨

⏳ Hearing aids don’t need to be replaced every year.

Most hearing aids last 5–7 years, and often longer with proper care. Consistent at-home cleaning and a few in-office tune-ups each year can help protect your investment and keep your devices working their best for years to come.

A little maintenance goes a long way. 👂💚

A patient told us, “I just avoid going out now. It is too loud anyway.” 😔

Restaurants are one of the first places people realize they are working way too hard to keep up. In difficult listening situations, your brain is straining to fill in missing words; it is exhausting.

We have felt that kind of fatigue in a noisy room, too. You can hear sound everywhere, but it still feels hard to follow the conversation that matters.

So when patients come in with this particular issue, we build a plan that focuses on clarity, comfort, and realistic expectations, not just turning things up. 🙅‍♀️

The small win this particular patient reported later was huge. They stayed at dinner longer, felt more confident, and stopped doing the constant guessing and smiling!

If you have been avoiding restaurants or group gatherings because listening feels like work, you are not alone. 🍝🍹 We can help!

💤 Hearing tests for babies are quick, gentle, and painless.

Many infants sleep right through their appointment! Sometimes a screening needs to be repeated due to movement, ear canal debris, or probe placement, and that doesn’t automatically mean there’s a problem.

If your baby needs follow-up testing, know that you’re taking the right step by getting clear answers. 💚

📊 Approximately 3–6 out of every 1,000 newborns are born with significant hearing loss.

Because hearing loss isn’t visible, screening and follow-up testing are critical, even when everything else appears normal. The good news? Modern testing allows us to evaluate hearing safely and comfortably, even in infants, without requiring any response from the child.

Early testing leads to earlier support and better outcomes. 👶✨

If something isn’t working, say something. 🗣️

Whether it’s music that’s too loud, a conversation from another room, or a group talking over each other, advocating early can prevent frustration later. Many people don’t realize there’s an issue unless it’s gently pointed out.

Asking for small adjustments can lead to much better listening experiences for everyone involved. 💚

We came across an article this week that caught our attention. 📰 A major pharmaceutical company is investing in gene-editing research to treat certain types of hearing loss.

As audiologists, we always keep an eye on developments like this. The science is fascinating, and any effort to better understand and potentially treat hearing loss at its root is worth watching.

Especially for genetic or congenital forms, where traditional hearing aids may not always be the full solution, research like this holds real promise.

So while we're hopeful and excited to see where this research leads, we also know this: right now, we do have proven, evidence-based ways to help people hear better, connect more deeply, and protect their cognitive health. 👂🧠

The future of hearing care might look different, and that’s a good thing. But today’s care still matters.
And we're here for both!

Real-Ear Measurement (REM) is one of the best “gap closers” we have in audiology. 🙌

We had a patient come in recently and say, “I’m wearing hearing aids… but I’m not sure I’m actually hearing my wife better.” 😣 The devices worked for most people, but when his wife spoke, her speech remained unclear, especially in noise.

So we brought her in! Our REM device can actually record her speech in the room and match it to his hearing loss and the output of the hearing aids!

That’s why we use REMs. It lets us measure what your hearing aids are delivering inside your ear canal and adjust them to evidence-based targets, so we’re not guessing!

The small wins can be huge, but we think we can classify this one as a huge win. 👏👏👏

The first week with hearing aids can feel strange, even when everything is going well.

For some types of hearing loss, this comment is very common: “My own voice sounds weird. It is too loud and kind of echoey.” They were worried something was wrong.

It reminds us of getting used to new glasses. 👓 At first, everything feels off, and then your brain settles in, and it starts to feel normal.

So we checked the fit, reviewed what causes that sensation, and made the right adjustments. Some of it is your brain adapting to sound again, and some of it is settings and comfort tweaks that we can dial in at follow-ups.

The win was that their voice started to sound normal again, comfort improved, and they felt confident sticking with the process!

Being fit with a new hearing aid prescription takes time! 🦻 At The Tinnitus and Hearing Center of Arizona, we love making time to make sure you are comfortable with your new prescription!

St. Patrick’s Day is full of music, laughter, and great conversations.

However, nearly 1 in 5 adults experience some degree of hearing loss, making regular hearing care just as important as any lucky charm.

Healthy hearing helps you stay connected to it all, no magic needed, just good care for your ears. 💚

Wishing you a day filled with joy, great company, and sounds worth celebrating!

How are you celebrating St. Patrick’s Day this year? ☘️👇

An appointment that measures your ear canal volume can be one of those “small steps” that make a huge difference in how hearing aids actually sound.

Let’s break it down: 👇

We start by reviewing your hearing test and your real-life goals (restaurants, TV, church, family gatherings).

Then we place a tiny probe microphone in your ear canal, and we play speech sounds to measure what your hearing aids are actually delivering inside your ear. 🦻 From there, we adjust the settings until they match evidence-based target levels, and we fine-tune based on what you notice.

The best part? The wins are often immediate:

✅ clearer speech without cranking volume
✅ less “sharp” or “off” sound
✅ more balanced hearing between ears
✅ more confidence that everything is set correctly

🧠 Your brain needs practice to hear its best.

Hearing aids work most effectively when worn consistently throughout the day, not just during social events. Regular wear helps your brain:

👂 Process speech more clearly
👂 Adjust to different sound environments
👂 Feel less overwhelmed in noise

Think of hearing like exercise: the more consistently you show up, the stronger it gets. 💪
