The weekend is almost here and if you're planning on outdoor activities, make sure to stay hydrated. 💧

Dr. Matthew Anastasi, sports medicine specialist at Mayo Clinic Arizona, Arizona Diamondbacks team physician, and medical director for the Fiesta Bowl and Cactus Bowl suggests choosing plain water or electrolyte drinks depending on how active you'll be.

Plain water is sufficient for low impact, less intense workouts, “But if you're going on anything more than 30 minutes in duration or anything, that's going to be very intense, I do think you, you would benefit from hydration support...The more electrolytes you have in your body, the more water you can help to hold on to and therefore it keeps you well hydrated."

School is back in session and that means youth athletics is in full swing. 🏀⚾🏈⚽

While it's estimated that more than 3.5 million sports injuries occur each year, many are not serious and even avoidable. Dr. Anikar Chhabra, Mayo Clinic Arizona Chair - Division of Sports Medicine, Sun Devil Athletics Medical Director, and W. P. Carey School of Business executive MBA program distinguished graduate encourages children to listen to their bodies.

“If patients are hurting and they're having injuries, you have to get early treatment to make sure that this doesn't become a longstanding problem.”
