Not All Movement Is Equal — Here's What I Learned from the CDC

I used to think any movement was good movement. But the CDC’s guidelines changed my perspective — it’s not just about moving, it’s about moving with intention.

The CDC recommends: 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity weekly AND 2 days of muscle-strengthening activities

So I updated my Fitbit to track target heart rate zones, not just steps. Because hitting 10,000 steps is great — but if your heart’s not in it (literally), you’re missing the mark.

One surprising discovery? Dancing with a ribbon actually counts toward my zone heart rate minutes. It’s fun, expressive, and yes — effective. Movement doesn’t have to be traditional to be powerful. I’ve found that joy and intensity can go hand in hand.
