TEMPLE ANNOUNCES 2022 GALLERY OF SUCCESS HONOREE
This year’s honoree from The Temple School of Podiatric Medicine is Dr. Burton Katzen
Dr. Katzen is being honored for among other things his many years of service to the TUSPM alumni board, including serving as its president from 2015-2019 and co-seminar coordinator and lecturer at the annual TUSPM seminar with proceeds going to benefit the present day students and student programs.
Dr. Katzen has been one of the national innovators of minimally invasive foot and ankle surgery including the Katzen/ Wilson MIS procedure for correction of bunion deformity, and served as president of the Academy of Minimally Invasive Foot and Ankle Surgery from 2018 – 2021 , where he is also the seminar coordinator , lecturer, and cadaver lab instructor at the bi-annual L.S.U. Medical School seminar. He has also served as Chief of Podiatric Medicine at The Southern Maryland Hospital Center and The Greater Southeast Community Hospital in Washington D.C.
Dr. Katzen has published numerous articles and has been featured in “Profiles in Excellence” for his articles "Minimally Invasive Foot and Ankle Surgery and Evidence Based Medicine", "The Many Uses Of Minimally Invasive Foot and Ankle Surgery", And “Wither Minimally Invasive Foot and Ankle Surgery”
Dr. Katzen and his wife of 49 years Wendy also believe in giving back to the younger generation and have endowed a TUSPM scholarship program for a graduating TUSPM student and have financed two 4 year college scholarships for former Israeli Defense Soldiers along with a residency in Neuro-infectious diseases at NIH in Bethesda Maryland also for a graduating IDF physician.
The ceremony will take place on April 29th at The Temple main campus where Dr. Katzen’s portrait along with honorees from the other Temple schools will hang for one year.
