Plaque may be invisible, but the effects are not.

Plaque is a sticky, colorless film of bacteria that constantly forms on our teeth and along the gum line. While it’s a natural occurrence, without regular removal, it can lead to serious dental problems.

There are two main issues that can arise from plaque:
1️⃣ The bacteria in plaque also produce toxins that can irritate your gums, leading to gum disease. If left untreated, gum disease can lead to tooth loss.
2️⃣ When plaque isn’t removed regularly, it can harden into tartar. Tartar is a hard, yellowish substance that forms on your teeth and along your gum line. It’s much harder to remove than plaque and can only be removed by a dentist.

Protect your smile from invisible dangers by staying vigilant about your oral hygiene and scheduling a check-up with your dentist today 🔗 www.derosadentistry.com

As we get older, we start to appreciate the features we had in our youth. One subtle change that can show our age is our dental health 🦷 Here are 4 ways to both help you look younger AND improve your overall dental health:

☑️ Seek Professional Whitening: teeth naturally darken overtime due to thicker, yellower dentin showing through thinner enamel.
☑️ Start Dental Repair Treatments: years of chewing and grinding wear down teeth, making them shorter and flatter, but composite bonding or veneers can refresh your smile.
☑️ Explore Gum Restoration: aging gums may recede and expose tooth roots, which also might cause sensitivity.
☑️ Replace Missing Teeth: missing teeth can impact facial structure, especially at the front of your smile.

As we age, our teeth naturally go through changes that can make us look older. However, you can maintain a youthful smile and appearance with the right dental health.

It’s hard to understand what you can’t see 👀, and fluoride is no different.

Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral found in water💧 and food 🍎. It is commonly added to public drinking water to help support enamel health and lower the risk of cavities.

Despite its benefits, fluoride has been a controversial topic over the years due to misinformation about it causing fluorosis and damaging children’s teeth.

Debunk these myths and learn how fluoride protects your oral health ➡️ https://derosadentistry.com/facts-on-fluoride-and-some-dispelled-myths-too/

Studies show that children who drink fluoridated water and use toothpaste with fluoride have better dental health throughout their lives.

Every patient has heard a horror story about a root canal. But, while root canals can be intimidating, they are not as scary or painful as they may seem.

Root canals are needed when a cavity reaches the nerve, causing inflammation or eventually infection. The best way to avoid the pain of an inflamed nerve or the stress of a root canal is to prevent a cavity from happening in the first place.

Preventative care is always the best route for maintaining a healthy smile 🦷🪥
