Central Counties Services

Central Counties Services Meeting Behavioral & Developmental Needs. Central Counties Services has served over 70,000 people with mental disabilities since 1967.

The Center’s services have fluctuated over time depending funding available. The changing state and federal rules that accompany the Center’s funding have also played a role in determining what services are provided for specified populations in the Center’s five-county catchment area. The activities at the Center tell a story of how the Center was started and continues to meet the complex challenges of the times. Much has been accomplished toward moving the Center from its early caretaker role to being a high quality sophisticated treatment agency that proudly serves the citizens in Bell, Coryell, Hamilton, Lampasas, and Milam counties.

🥶 Warming Center Opens Today

The City of Killeen, in partnership with Friends in Crisis, will open a warming center today at 3 p.m. due to an overnight freeze warning in our area forecast.

The center is open to all community members needing a safe, warm place, including those without heat or experiencing power outages.

📅 Monday, March 16 at 3 p.m. through Tuesday, March 17 at 10 a.m.
📍 Friends in Crisis (412 East Sprott Street)

City policy requires warming centers to open when temperatures or wind chills are forecast to reach 32 degrees or below. City crews will continue monitoring conditions and capacity throughout the advisory period.
