My very sleepy face after a super fun birth(day)
Fun Fact: in 2019, after I finished my doula training, the very first birth i was hired to attend, mama had her baby before myself or the midwives made it through the door. She was in denial that she was actually in labor (4th baby problems π) I was on pins and needles while checking in, very excited for a first birth experience with the midwife who cared for all of my babies π₯° low and behold, it went faster than anybody anticipated!
Last night, my first birth as a student midwife (but playing the role of a doula to the sweetest family!) Nobody realized just how quickly this birth would go for a first time mama!! And worthy of all the coincidence, that baby boy beat both myself and the midwife!!! It felt surreal and yet, full circle as I relived such a similar experience from my first birth ever, to now over 70.
I got to come home and take a 2 hour nap before having to be a mom and normal functioning human again, but I am just forever in awe of birth. The literal miracle of bringing forth new life. The surrender to whatever plan we have no control over. The incredible love I am honored to be in the presence of as these families grow and change in sacred and holy ways. It is not lost on me how incredibly blessed I am. Who needs sleep when you get to witness miracles π₯Ήπ«Ά
Also, me and Courtney get the super duper fast births a LOT if anybody wants to birth at with a dream team ππ
