It's almost that time of year for pumpkin spice and Part D Open Enrollment!

For those with Medicare and a Supplement Plan, October 15th to December 7th is Open Enrollment for your Part D drug prescription plan.

It's also prime time for scammers.

Avoid being a victim of a scam or fraud by following a few tips from the Fair Trade Commission Consumer Advice:

1. Do NOT respond to anyone who seems to be from Medicare asking for your personal information. Medicare does not call people unexpectedly.

2. Do work with your Insurance agent who sold you your Supplement and Part D drug plan to learn of your Open Enrollment options. This is the time of year where I meet with many of my clients to review their coverages.

3. Contact HICAP Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program in your area to meet with someone who can help answer your questions.

4. If you have questions about scams or suspected fraud call Medicare directly at 1-800-Medicare.
