Re-Introducing Myself
I’ve noticed I haven’t done this in a while, so here we go.
My name is Kento.
I’m a physical therapist, aspiring to be a psychoanalyst.
I’m Japanese-American, a husband, father, brother, son—and most importantly, a human.
For much of my life, I felt like I was living for someone else—following someone else’s ideals, rules, rights, and wrongs. Whether it came from family, religion, or society, I shaped myself around expectations rather than my own truth.
I saw this same pattern in the medical field:
🩺 This surgery is better than that one.
⚙️ This treatment technique is superior to X.
🏛️ This institute is more credible than Y.
🧠 This way of thinking is “right,” that one is “wrong.”
Unintentionally, I fell into this trap of comparison and hierarchy—instead of looking beneath the surface, beyond the blind spots I had learned.
But in the process of unlearning and reconnecting, I found more:
✅ More freedom.
✅ More courage.
✅ More creativity.
✅ More self-worth.
✅ More compassion.
And this is why I do what I do.
Many of us are stuck in survival patterns—ways of thinking and moving that limit us, create pain, or keep us trapped in cycles that no longer serve us.
Through movement, rhythm, breathwork, and deep self-understanding, we can reconnect to our body and expand beyond survival.
If this resonates with you, or if you're curious about how this work can support you, send me a message-i'd love to hear your thoughts
