March is National Nutrition Month! 🫐🍓🍌

Today we paired up with Legacy Healthcare Services and hosted a fruit smoothie bar! Residents sampled numerous kinds of smoothies - some of which contained kale from our very own garden - and learned helpful tips about nutrition and how to live a healthy life and age gracefully.

Here are just a few things we learned:

Blueberries are believed to have the highest antioxidant levels of all fruits. Incorporating these into your diet regularly can help lower blood pressure, maintain brain function and memory and promote heart health.

Drinking warm or hot water is better than drinking ice cold water as it better hydrates and detoxifies. It can also improve circulation and help with digestion.

The fibers on kale help prevent the development of diabetes.

Advice: get plenty of fresh air, drink at least 8 glasses of water a day, stay away from “fast food” and eat your fruits and veggies!
