As a leading mental health facility in the state of Indiana, Harsha Behavioral Center is proud to call Terre Haute home.
Working as a team, we serve our community, towards a better tomorrow. We believe in cultivating an environment that is understanding, welcoming and thriving. Every patient that walks through our door is a priority, and their health and well-being, both physically and mentally, is handled with utmost care. As a quality psychiatric hospital, we challenge ourselves by taking on some of the most challenging cases. Often times, our patients are those who have been turned away from another mental health facility. We strive to break down the barriers and provide the essential care that our patients truly need and deserve. Established in 2008, Harsha Behavioral Center is a freestanding acute care psychiatric hospital. We have 81 beds for providing inpatient services to individuals needing 24-hour intensive psychiatric care. We serve children aged 3-12, adolescents aged 13-17, adults aged 18-54 and geriatrics aged 55 and older and have an average length of stay ranging from 5-10 days. Each age group is housed in a separate unit. We work to implement innovative technologies and develop new holistic therapies to improve mental health. Our modern approach is reflective in our state-of-the-art campus, where our patients, families, physicians and staff come together to offer the highest quality patient care in a safe and nurturing environment. Today we commemorated Pat's retirement following 24 years of distinguished service to our company. Pat began her career at our outpatient office, then transitioned to Doctor Harshawat's scribe at our hospital. We are grateful for the years of dedication Pat devoted to us and wish her the utmost happiness in her retirement.

Today for National Chili Day, we hosted a Chili Cook Off with staff. We had so many delicious entries and staff had a great time sampling the different chili and spending time together. Congratulations to our Director of Therapy, Kirsten for being voted top chef!

Our staff are dedicated to providing outstanding care to our patients on a daily basis. It's a pleasure to see families acknowledge and value the impact made on their loved ones during their stay. Earlier today, a family member generously brought in donuts and sweet treats as a gesture of appreciation for our team.

Be kind today! We challenge our employees, patients, and community to do something kind for someone today. Mental Health, especially depression, is a struggle in the winter and after the holiday. Did you know that an act of kindness can boost your mood as well?
