Join us as we come together to support and honor the veterans in our community.

This collaborative Stand Down event—hosted by DAV Chapter 9, United Way of the Wabash Valley, and community partners—aims to provide essential resources and services to veterans and their families.

🔹 Available Goods:
• Personal hygiene kits
• Non-perishable food items

🔹 Services Provided:
• Hot meal service
• Medical & dental screenings
• Mental health resources
• Haircuts
• Employment & resume assistance
• Housing & benefits navigation

Whether you’re a veteran in need of support or someone who wants to spread the word, this event is about showing up for those who have served.

The First Annual Vigo County Veterans Treatment Court Taco Eating Championships have officially concluded, and we are proud to announce that our Executive Director brought home the gold! 24 crunchy tacos in under 15 minutes!

Zac is honored to be able to be active in such a valuable program! Veterans Court is a high-intensity problem solving court that provides individualized treatment opportunities to the men and women who served our country, and we are proud to be a part of their team.

Our Executive Director has been invited to compete in a taco eating contest alongside the alumni of Terre Haute Veterans Treatment Court!

Vet Court is a high-intensity problem solving court that specializes in guiding our veterans through the criminal justice system while granting opportunities for success not otherwise available to them.

It’s an honor and a privilege to have such a wonderful relationship with such an amazing program!

Congratulations to Bear!!!

Meet our next model in the 6th Annual Recovery is Beautiful Gala, Bear Buchanan. 💜

A woman in long-term recovery, Bear gives credit for her progress towards serenity to the 12-steps, the dedication and devotion of those who are early in their recovery journeys, and most of all to her son, who has shown her what it means to love and be loved. 🥹

While many see her as a pillar of support and a saving grace during their darkest hours, Bear recognizes a truth less apparent. For Bear, the ones she works to serve are her heroes. Without them, and without the wisdom of the 12-steps, she'd have no light to guide the next wandering soul. 💫

Bear's runway outfit is being generously provided by Wabash Valley Goodwill Industries, Inc. & Excel Center of West Central Indiana. Goodwill is a staple in our community, providing employment opportunities and clothing vouchers to individuals in need.
And if you're unfamiliar with the Excel Center, please go check them out!!! They are a tuition-free adult charter high school that awards certifications and high school diplomas, not GEDs, to adult learners in West Central Indiana. We are so proud of Ashley, our Housekeeping Manager!

We want to introduce our first model in the 6th Annual Recovery is Beautiful Gala- Ashley Julian. 💜

Ashley's recovery began on June 21st, 2023. She is the mother to 4 beautiful children and is due to become a grandma in October! Her story includes overcoming difficult circumstances and past legal challenges, which became experiences that helped shape her strength and resilience today. Ashley now works in the recovery field, giving back to the community, and learning so much along the way.

She enjoys spending time with her amazing fiancé and family, shopping and tanning. 🥰

Ashley's runway outfit was donated by Glitter, Sparkles & All Gowns Bejeweled, who has been a sponsor of this event the last few years. We are so grateful for their continued support of what we do. If you're needing a beautiful dress for any event, check out their page linked above. 👠👗

We are so blessed to see so many beautiful mothers reunited with their children after they complete our 28-day substance use treatment program, so we are infinitely grateful to community resources geared towards enabling mothers to continuously grow and learn!

We hope to see many of our graduates and their families at this upcoming resource fair!

Happy Saturday! We are grateful for our relationship with courts, corrections, and criminal justice. Our Executive Director works hard to make sure individuals who need an opportunity to heal are not overlooked. Recovery is possible!

Meet Jordan, our Director of Nursing!

Jordan is a dedicated and compassionate nurse who earned her LPN from Ivy Tech in 2020 and her RN in 2026. Over the past six years, she has focused her nursing career on substance use disorder treatment, where she has developed a deep passion for supporting individuals on their path to recovery.

Jordan finds fulfillment in helping others navigate their sobriety journey and is inspired by the powerful transformations she witnesses along the way. Her commitment to patient-centered care, combined with her experience in addiction treatment, allows her to provide empathetic and knowledgeable support to those she serves.

She is excited to bring her skills, experience, and passion for recovery to Hickory Recovery, where she looks forward to making a meaningful impact in the lives of her patients.

Ruth House is one of many trusted destinations for women who have graduated our program. They offer safety, serenity, and sincere opportunities for continued healing. Please come out to support the recovery community!

Meet Chris and Christy, the wonderful social workers of the Terre Haute Police Department! They were kind enough to drop by and visit with Executive Director Zac and Clinical Director Mick to discuss opportunities for collaboration.

These two dedicate their lives to caring for and assisting individuals experiencing a mental health crisis. These are the heroes who arrive on the scene to provide therapeutic interventions when de-escalation is of the utmost importance.

Hickory is proud to be able to nurture partnerships such as this to ensure all individuals in need of treatment for Substance Use Disorder are able to secure the opportunities for success they deserve.
