Dr. Kiesel was in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, this last weekend at the DISRUPT conference, presenting to PTs, OTs, and Nurses on Neuroplasticity and Pain. DISRUPT is a healthcare innovation conference. Huge thanks to Good Shepherd Rehabilitation for hosting an event focused on curiosity—a mindset essential to unraveling the complexities of the nervous system and treating pain effectively.

Do you know someone age 50 or older?

The ISU DPT program is hosting our annual Older Adult Health Screening on Saturday, April 11 from 8am-4pm. This FREE event gives older adults the opportunity to work with PT students (under licensed PT supervision) to asses balance, strength, and mobility and receive individualized education and recommendations to improve overall health and well being.

We recommend that you call or email ahead to reserve a time to guarantee a spot, but walk-ins are welcome!

🌟 Welcome to a New Series: Student Shout Out

Here we will be recognizing a DPT student who has gone above and beyond in our program and community.

For March, we recognize Muhammad for volunteering to serve as a translator in our Pro Bono clinic on multiple occasions, ensuring a patient receives the highest level of care.

Way to represent ISU DPT well! 👏

Neuro in action 🧠⚡️

Our 2nd year DPT students are working on increasing arm swing amplitude during gait and challenging reactive balance strategies on the slip trainer as part of their neurologic rehabilitation course.

From motor control to postural responses, they’re learning how to help patients move with confidence in unpredictable environments.

Hands-on. Evidence-informed. Patient-centered.

This week, our 1st years participated in an aging simulation to experience what movement can be like for older adults. It gave them a new perspective on why physical activity may feel more challenging with age and the importance of making exercise more accessible.
