We had a great session of Coffee & Coaching this past Saturday. Our topic was about transforming 'Conversations of Complaint' to 'Conversations of Responsibility.' Some key questions we explored - and I invite you to explore - were:
1. What is the payoff for complaining? (What do we get out of it?)
2. What is the cost?
3. What is NOT happening if we get stuck in patterns of complaining?
I've been exploring this topic a LOT since our session, and one thing I noticed is that complaining is quite common :-). It's easy to fall into it. And I've noticed that when I do, I often feel powerless and lose my focus on what matters most. The first step to shifting it is to NOTICE when it's happening.
What are you noticing? Do you hear people (and yourself) complaining more these days? If so, what impact is that having? What would be different if we took more responsibility for what we CAN change?
