Big things are growing at Westminster Village—and not just in our gardens! 🌱

We’re excited to share that a brand-new gardening shed is currently being built for our residents, thanks to the hard work and dedication of our incredible maintenance team, Michael Gwin and David Randall. Their craftsmanship is bringing to life a space our gardening enthusiasts have been eagerly anticipating!

This new shed will provide a convenient, organized, and beautiful area to store tools and supplies—making it even easier for residents to enjoy one of our community’s most loved activities. Gardening at Westminster Village isn’t just a hobby; it’s a way to connect, stay active, and take pride in something that grows.

A special thank you to our Plant Operations Director, Jon McCloskey, and his team for listening to our residents and turning their ideas into reality. 🌼

Today we say “see you later” (not goodbye!) to our incredible Niffers Fitness Manager, Michael Sweitzer 💙

For over 3 ½ years, Michael has brought unmatched energy, dedication, and passion to our community. His ability to connect with every single resident and team member is something truly special—and it’s what made such a lasting impact here at Westminster Village. From motivating workouts to meaningful conversations, he made everyone feel seen, valued, and inspired.

While we are so excited for him as he begins this next chapter, there’s no doubt he will be deeply missed by both residents and staff. It has been an absolute honor to work alongside him, and we are grateful for the positivity and heart he poured into our community each and every day.

Michael, we hope you know this isn’t goodbye—we fully expect you to come back and visit (and maybe even lead a workout or two 😉). Once you’re settled, we’d love for you to return and share all about your new adventures!

We are thrilled to share an exciting collaboration between Westminster Village and Art Spaces, Inc. that brings creativity, culture, and community together!

This week, our residents had the opportunity to participate in a special two-part series designed to celebrate the incredible public art throughout Vigo County. The first session featured an engaging presentation highlighting the many stunning sculptures commissioned by Art Spaces across our community—offering insight into the stories, inspiration, and impact behind each piece.

The second part marked the beginning of what we hope will be many more adventures—a guided tour around town where residents experienced these beautiful sculptures up close. It was a wonderful way to connect, explore, and appreciate the artistry that surrounds us every day.

We are especially grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with Executive Director Ellie Templeton and the entire Art Spaces team. Their passion and dedication make experiences like this possible, and we are so thankful to partner with such an inspiring group.

If you haven’t had a chance yet, we highly encourage you to visit Art Spaces, pick up a brochure, and take the tour yourself. It’s truly worth it! These sculptures reflect the pride, creativity, and care that go into making our community such a vibrant and beautiful place to call home.

We’re proud to celebrate the Grand Re-Opening of our Health Center Dining Room—a refreshed space designed with our residents in mind. From updated surroundings to the same friendly faces, this dining room is all about bringing people together to enjoy meals, laughter, and community.

🔍 Whispers… secrets… and one shocking twist! 🔍

Our Whispers at Westminster Manor Murder Mystery Dinner was a huge success, and our residents had an absolute blast!

The evening began with Colleen Westminster announcing her retirement and naming her successor… only to reveal she wasn’t retiring after all. With three unhappy heirs, tensions quickly rose—and before long… there was a murder. 💀

Residents worked together to solve the case, questioning suspects (and even a few innocent bystanders 😄). While everyone had a motive, the real culprit was revealed to be Jon Whitaker, Westminster Manor Manager—and not a single table guessed it!

A standing ovation for our incredible team member actors, who truly deserve their own “Academy Awards of Westminster Village”:

Julie Young’s story is one of hard work, humor, and heart.

From babysitting her younger brother (and trying to hide a very memorable staircase mishap) to helping other families while juggling bus rides and early mornings, Julie has always found ways to care for others.

Her first real job as a waitress helped shape a strong work ethic, and her later work helping people connect with volunteer opportunities in Terre Haute showed her dedication to making a difference in her community.

Julie retired in 2002, not because she wanted to slow down, but because she wanted more time to enjoy life outside of work and focus on what mattered most to her, her husband. ❤️
