Sharing a post from one of our local moms, Kristi: "I just wanted to bring to light some local support groups for those who may not know about them.
Firstly, we have a local Lactation Consultant, Rachael Spencer at Union Hospital. She offers a variety of classes from childbirth prep to breastfeeding and is working on a class for pumping moms, those who will be returning to work or exclusively pumping for their babes. Rachael is currently moving Union Hospital towards a more baby-friendly model of care. You can reach her via phone (812) 238-4985 and also take a look at the hospitals site for further information http://www.myunionhospital.org/unionhospital/index.php/maternity-services-breastfeeding-center

Second, there is the La Leche League of Terre Haute that meets 2 times a month. Once during the day and once in the evening. The LLL Leaders are very knowledgeable and very willing to assist you no matter where you are in your breastfeeding journey. The group is made up of new mothers to mothers that have nursed multiple children. There is support for those that have none at home, those that are nursing multiples, tandem nursing, nursing through pregnancy and even support for pumping moms or those looking to wean their babes in a gentle way. https://www.facebook.com/groups/LLLTerreHaute/
For those that are needing support of just companionship of other moms going through the same parenting challenges, there is a local group called MACC (Mothering As A Career Club). This is a very active group consisting of new moms, experienced moms and moms whose children have already left home. They offer monthly meetings and weekly playgroups and even a MOMS NIGHT OUT. This is an all around support group for any stage in your parenting journey. While there is a facebook group, it is only available to members due to the personal nature of the information found there. You are more than welcome to attend 2 events prior to making a decision to join or not. The events could be meetings, playgroups or a combination of both. http://www.thmacc.org/
There is also the Wabash Valley Breastfeeding Support group. While this group is just starting to really get going, it's bringing a lot of support to those who need it. Meetings are each month in Clinton by our fantastic Katie Shuckhart, WIC Peer Counselor. https://www.facebook.com/BreastfeedingMomsSupport?ref=profile
We also have the Terre Haute Birth & Beyond Network. This group helps raise awareness, education, advocacy and empowerment for mother-baby friendly pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding and parenting. https://www.facebook.com/TerreHauteBirthNetwork?ref=profile https://sites.google.com/site/thbirthandbeyondnetwork/ "
