Please join us in Lighting Up Social Media on Sunday, March 13 in honor of Abby’s 10th birthday. Abby was hit by a drunk driver on October 22, 2021 and suffered catastrophic injuries and subsequently died.

Let’s talk about addiction and alcoholism. Let’s educate others about resources in the community. Let’s end the stigma.

Recovery and Sobriety are possible.

If you want to help you can:

1. Take a picture of yourself with a light and tag .

2. Make a charitable donation in Abby’s name to Responsibility House through Venmo ().

3. Call Responsibility House at 504.367.4234 and ask about treatment - we offer both out patient and in patient services.

4. Share your sobriety date and picture so we know that recovery is possible.

5. Don’t drink and drive!

In 2021 Louisiana set a new record for the number of deaths on its public highways with 997 deaths according to the DOTD. According to the data alcohol use has been involved in 40% of all highway deaths.

More than 6% of adults in the US have an alcohol use disorder and about 88,000 people die of alcohol related causes every year. It is the 3rd leading cause of preventable death in the country.

Unfortunately, less than 7 percent of those suffering from an alcohol use disorder seek treatment for the disease.

Due to Hurricane Ida damages, Responsibility House has been closed. We are working diligently to get ready for our projected opening on October 4th, 2021 for male residential treatment.
