🎃🍂 CSS LOVES Hartke Pumpkin Farm! 🍂🎃

Ladies from CSS's Residential group had the best time enjoying everything Hartke Pumpkin Farm has to offer, and we couldn’t resist sharing some smiles from the day! From picking pumpkins to soaking in the fall atmosphere, the fun never stops there.

We’ve had many groups visiting since the farm first opened this season, and each visit has been filled with laughter, smiles, and festive memories. Thank you, Hartke Pumpkin Farm, for welcoming us year after year—it’s always a highlight of our fall!

The CDS crew enjoyed a day at Lincoln Log Cabin State Historic Site near Lerna, IL! 🇺🇸 This living history farm preserves the 1840s home of Abraham Lincoln’s father and stepmother, Thomas and Sarah Bush Lincoln. While Lincoln never lived here himself, he often supported the family and visited the farm.

The crew explored historic cabins, barns, and even met some farm animals 🐷🐔 — a wonderful way to step back in time and learn about life nearly 200 years ago!

Individuals in Intermittent CILA had the best time at Creekside Blooms! 🎃🌻 We picked our pumpkins, scooped them out, cut our own flowers right from the farm, and turned them into stunning pumpkin bouquets. The creativity and laughter made it such a fun fall outing! Thank you, Creekside Blooms team, for the wonderful experience!

🌟 Celebrate with Us: October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month in Effingham County!

At their recent meeting, the Effingham County Board once again recognized the importance of inclusive workplaces by officially proclaiming October as National Disability Employment Awareness Month in Effingham County. The 2025 national theme, “Celebrating Value and Talent,” highlights the unique contributions and skills people with disabilities bring to our workplaces and community.

Individuals served in the CSS Community Integrated Employment (CIE) program, along with the staff who assist them, proudly attended the proclamation—standing together to celebrate the value, talent, and impact people with disabilities bring to our workforce.

Through our CIE program, CSS is helping more individuals than ever achieve meaningful employment. With the support of our dedicated job coaches and employer partners, we’re committed to breaking down barriers, building careers, and strengthening our community.

The Intermittent CILA group had the exciting opportunity to scrimmage with the Effingham County Lightning volleyball team, and we loved every minute of it! 🏐✨ For some, it was their very first time on the court, and they didn't let that stop them—everyone did amazing! We had a blast, laughed, and learned together. A big thank-you to the Lightning team for welcoming us to the game. We can't wait to do it again.

While our community really needed this weekend’s rain, we’re thinking back to the beautiful, dry day our CDS crew spent at Ballard Nature Center recently. Ballard is one of our local favorites, and the sunshine made it the perfect spot to explore, laugh, and enjoy time together—especially while our Harvester Street location is undergoing renovation.

For anyone planning a visit, Ballard’s trails are open dawn to dusk year-round, and their visitor center is open daily March through November (with limited hours during winter months).

A few individuals in the Intermittent CILA crew had an incredible time at the Doobie Brothers concert at Hollywood Casino Amphitheater! The music and atmosphere made for an unforgettable evening, and the smiles said it all. 💙

We can’t wait for more concerts like this and to see everyone check more experiences off their dream boards. 🌟

Our Community Day Service groups enjoyed taking boat rides around Lake Sara recently! 🐟☀️ The smiles, fresh air, and gentle waves made for an unforgettable time on the lake.

🎉 Kids’ Area at the CSS Art Auction & Community Celebration! 🎉

Bring the whole crew—there’s plenty of fun waiting for the little ones on Friday, Sept. 19 at the Teutopolis Banquet Hall:

✨ Inflatable Obstacle Course – open 5 PM–dark for endless jumping and racing 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

✨ Paddi's Air Filled Fun – balloon art 6–8 PM 🎈
