Spending time with others is such a blessing. Everyone struggles with listening more than talking. It’s amazing what you communicate when you truly hear someone and hold space for who they are exactly where they are in this moment. Being a doula is more than labor support some days. It is being the keeper of the space and holding the sacred story in your heart for that mama.

We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Evidence-based Birth! Dr. Dekker and her team provide the evidence on all sides of a birth-related matter, and this week they updated their article on water births to include one of the most comprehensive studies to date.

Please note, in our community, to achieve a water birth, you will also need to choose the Homebirth route. For Homebirth, see Christina Winton, CPM, LLM Agape Homebirth Services.

Check out the evidence here:

Remember this on Valentines Day and every other day: you and your Partner are a team. Greet each other with meaningful contact every day, departures and arrivals home included. Treat each other with grace and understanding, remembering that there is no one right way to parent. Ask for what you need and ask them what they need too. BTW, your Four States Doulas love Thanksgiving babies! 😉

Tribe, you are not “too much” or “too little”. You are ENOUGH just as you are. You are MORE THAN ENOUGH! ❤️ 🌸 ♾️ 🌸 ❤️

Know this: Your body has grown your baby and can birth your baby.

Macrosomia, the medical term for a big baby, and/or
Cephalopelvic disproportion (CPD), meaning small pelvis, can be sited for reasons for induction.

Knowing that third trimester ultrasounds can be off by 15%, give or take, can mean the 8 pound baby could be 6.8 to 9.2 pounds.

Be an informed consumer about your body and your baby, and make sure you’re making decisions based on the facts. We love all things Evidence-Based Birth.

We give gratitude for this Family, Christina Winton, CPM, LLM Agape Homebirth Services, and the staff a Christus St. Michaels. As always, it is a blessing to be of service in these moments of strength and beauty.

Our Story

Four States Doulas is a collective of individual doulas and other birth-related service professionals. While researching local doulas for one of her former students, Doula Jaimee discovered that there were almost no doulas in the Ark-La-Tex. She also found that there was a strong desire to have this resource for all families. Circumstances started to fall into place with all of the signs pointing Jaimee and her husband, Chad, to finally make their long-desired trek to return “home” to Texarkana.

Jaimee and Chad started making connections with professionals in the birth community while simultaneously preparing their home in Plano for sale. Within just a few months, they were on their way back home and had gathered a Tribe of women ready to serve their communities. Check out our Sisterhood page to meet our doulas.
