SOCIAL MEDIA POLICY:
Southwest Arkansas Counseling & Mental Health Center, Inc. is a healthcare provider regulated under federal HIPAA laws. The organization prohibits the posting of comments, photographs or videos about its patients by restricting the ability of its employees and the general public from posting to its social media sites. This includes, but is not limited to, popular sites like: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube, Pinterest, and Blogs. Be advised that if you are a patient, family member, legal guardian, or authorized representative and you choose to post information about yourself or a patient on social media you are accepting full responsibility that your posts could constitute an unwanted and unlawful violation of confidentiality and patient privacy resulting in a HIPAA violation. Violating HIPAA can result in criminal charges up to ten years in prison and a maximum penalty of $1.5 million dollars. This means that posts on social media are not private but public information. Southwest Arkansas Counseling & Mental Health Center, Inc. shall be held harmless and accepts no legal liability for these actions.
