It’s been said that laughter is the best medicine - while we don’t completely agree with that, we do think it’s a pretty big component to achieving a fulfilling life. We like to mix some fun and laughter in between the seriousness of providing quality patient care and resident instruction. 😁

📸📸 Today we achieved that with 100 photos of our fearless leader, Dr. Nix, hidden throughout the clinic! Our staff and residents had a good time finding all the crazy places his pictures had been hidden. We definitely enjoyed plenty of laughs and are thankful to have such an easy-going program director!

Virtual health care is helping new moms get the support they need—right from home.

Our latest research shows that digital tools like virtual doctor visits are making it easier for postpartum mothers to access care for important issues like mental health, substance use, and intimate partner violence.

LITTLE ROCK — Digital health care, such as virtual doctor’s appointments, could fill gaps in care services for postpartum mothers and help their doctors identify critical needs earlier, according to researchers at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Institute for Community Hea...

Expecting a baby before Dec. 1? You could receive FREE doula support!

We are looking for expecting moms in Clark, Hot Springs, Garland, and Grant counties to connect with doulas-in-training who can provide emotional, physical, and informational support during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

We recently celebrated our graduating residents with dinner and a ceremony honoring their accomplishments. In addition to their Family Medicine Residency diplomas, we also gave out a few awards.

Aisa Hines and Sherry Sanders, LPN, were both recognized for 10 years of service. Dr. Belinda Hutcheson was recognized for 20 years of service. We are so thankful for their dedication!

The Preventative Health Champion Award went to Dr. Raha Amini in recognition of her commitment to preventative and population health.

The Excellence in Teaching Award went to Dr. Clint Cox in recognition of his significant contributions to the education and development of his peers.

The Clinic’s Choice Award went to Chief Resident, Dr. Russell Gregory for embodying teamwork, compassion, and service to UAMS staff and patients. This award is voted on by all UAMS faculty, staff, administration, and fellow residents.

The Golden Apple Award for recognition of an outstanding Community Preceptor went to a former graduate of our program, Dr. Kevin O’Sullivan. This award is voted on by the graduates.

We want to thank: CHRISTUS Health for their sponsorship of our VIP reception honoring the graduates and their families before our event; Texarkana Convention Center and staff for an amazing venue and meal; and Focal Point Productions of Texarkana for our wonderful photos.

Great day at TAMUT with the nursing program! Students tested all the manikins and were able to do a blood draw and IV. They were then able to participate in Stop the Bleed.
This afternoon back at UAMS we dissected sheep hearts and practiced using stethoscopes 🩺 before looking at the heart on ultrasound. As a special surprise one of the TAMUT nursing instructors, Hannah, let students ultrasound her baby 👶🏻!
