Our 27th Annual Sports Medicine Symposium - a day where we explore injuries that often happen during sports play.
By having residents hear from Physical Therapists and Orthopedic Surgeons who see the severity of sports injuries everyday, they are more prepared to address injuries when they happen at events or when they see physicians after a game and to help athletes prevent injuries before they happen.

🌟 Employee Spotlight: Dr. Andrew LeGrand 🌟
Job Title: PGY-3, Chief Resident

Meet Andrew LeGrand, D.O., a proud Texarkana native and PGY-3 Chief Resident at UAMS! Dr. LeGrand finds deep fulfillment in caring for patients in the very community that helped shape him into the person he is today. His dedication and leadership have earned him the role of Chief Resident — a milestone he’s especially proud of.

Dr. LeGrand believes that success in his role comes from staying organized, preparing for the unexpected, and being an effective communicator. Outside of work, he enjoys hunting, fishing, trapping, cheering on University of Arkansas athletics, and spending quality time with his wife Sydney and their spirited 3-year-old daughter, Hadley.

🎯 Fun Fact: Andrew is an Eagle Scout and grew up welding and ironworking in his grandfather’s family business.
🎬 Favorite Movie: We Were Soldiers

We’re proud to have Dr. LeGrand on our team and grateful for the compassion, leadership, and humor he brings to UAMS every day!

It’s been said that laughter is the best medicine - while we don’t completely agree with that, we do think it’s a pretty big component to achieving a fulfilling life. We like to mix some fun and laughter in between the seriousness of providing quality patient care and resident instruction. 😁

📸📸 Today we achieved that with 100 photos of our fearless leader, Dr. Nix, hidden throughout the clinic! Our staff and residents had a good time finding all the crazy places his pictures had been hidden. We definitely enjoyed plenty of laughs and are thankful to have such an easy-going program director!
