I’m reaching out to our sandtray and play therapy community with a very tender ask. 💜

I am gathering photos and short video clips of Carmen Jimenez-Pride to create a tribute video that will be shared at the **International Association for Sandtray Therapy Sandtray Summit this April in Kentucky.

If you have pictures, conference moments, vendor-booth memories, selfies, laughter, hugs, or short videos that capture Carmen being Carmen, I would be honored to include them.

This tribute is about celebrating her life, her work, her magic, and the many ways she showed up for this community. ✨

We’re a day late, but the rhythm is worth the wait. 👀

Day 5 – The Journey Home ✈️

In the wee hours of the morning, we boarded the subway with sleepy eyes and full hearts, then caught a bus in Queens to LaGuardia to begin our long trip home. From New York City to St. Louis to Dallas and, just moments ago, into Little Rock, where Mama — our faithful unpaid Uber — picked us up in the Nana Mobile (proudly named by Lanie 😂).

We are almost home.

Memories were made. Adventures were had. Laughter, magic, tired feet, frozen noses, and so much joy filled these days. And as always happens when my heart is full, ideas for both companies are already swirling in my mind ✨

New York, thank you.

✨ Day 4 – New Year’s Day Adventures in New York ✨

We welcomed the New Year with a cozy morning in, ordering a special breakfast — including a rainbow bagel that absolutely made our day 🌈🥯

From there we headed to Central Park, where fresh snow made everything feel like a winter postcard. We visited Gapstow Bridge, The Mall, and Bethesda Terrace and Fountain, admired the frozen pond, enjoyed hot chocolate and hot dogs from a cart, listened to a talented violinist, and even spent a little time playing with some very curious squirrels. We also went by Bow Bridge — the park was simply magical in the snow ❄️

Our afternoon took us to One World Trade Center and Ground Zero, where we spent time at the twin memorial reflecting pools — a powerful and emotional reminder of resilience, grief, and hope. 🤍

For our final adventure of the day, we braved the freezing cold and walked to the harbor at sunset to look across the water at Lady Liberty — glowing against the evening sky and absolutely breathtaking.

We ended the night with one more subway ride, a bit of last-minute souvenir shopping, and finishing the day the New York way: Joe’s Pizza delivered in 🍕✨

Here’s to a New Year filled with connection, meaning, and moments of wonder.

Tonight’s spotlight goes to something almost everyone recognizes instantly… the iPhone 📱

In the sandtray, an iPhone can symbolize connection, communication, and access to the world—relationships maintained, support within reach, and voices being heard. At the same time, it may represent pressure, comparison, distraction, or feeling constantly “on” and overwhelmed.

This small but powerful miniature often opens conversations around boundaries, social media, identity, belonging, and the balance between connection and disconnection.

Sometimes it represents safety.
Sometimes stress.
Sometimes the place where everything—and everyone—lives.
