Nearly 1 million Americans, and almost 3 million people worldwide, are living with multiple sclerosis. MS is unpredictable: symptoms can be invisible, they can change from day to day, and getting an accurate diagnosis can take years.

Disease-modifying infusion therapies have transformed what life with MS can look like. At Red River Health, our nursing team is trained and experienced in administering Briumvi® (ublituximab-xiiy), Ocrevus® (ocrelizumab), Lemtrada® (alemtuzumab), and Tysabri® (natalizumab), in a setting designed for comfort and safety.

To everyone living with MS, every care partner, and every neurology team out there: we see you.

Gout is one of the most painful forms of inflammatory arthritis, and one of the most misunderstood. More than 8 million Americans live with it, and despite the old stereotypes, it is not simply caused by what someone eats or drinks. Gout is a chronic disease driven by uric acid, and stigma around it keeps too many people from getting the care they need.

For patients with chronic gout that hasn’t responded to standard therapies, Red River Health offers Krystexxa® (pegloticase) infusions in our comfortable suites, monitored every step of the way by our experienced infusion nursing team.

If gout is keeping you from the activities and people you love, talk with your provider. There are more options than there used to be.

AiArthritis Day exists to push past the misconceptions, raise awareness, and remind every patient: you are not alone in this race.

May is Arthritis Awareness Month.

Arthritis is the leading cause of disability in America, affecting nearly 60 million adults and 300,000 children. It’s not just “getting older”; it’s a complex family of more than 100 different diseases, and it can show up at any age.

Living with arthritis can mean stiff mornings, painful flares, and decisions about everyday activities others take for granted. The right treatment plan can change all of that.

Red River Health partners with rheumatologists across our region to deliver infusion therapies prescribed for inflammatory and rheumatic conditions, including Actemra®, Inflectra®, Nucala®, Orencia®, and Simponi Aria®, all in a calm, semi-private setting where our nurses know your name and your story.

May is Osteoporosis Awareness & Prevention Month.

More than 10 million Americans are living with osteoporosis, and another 44 million have low bone density that puts them at higher risk for fractures. The tricky part: there are usually no warning signs until a bone breaks.

The good news is that osteoporosis is treatable, and often preventable. Weight-bearing exercise, calcium and vitamin D, fall-prevention at home, and the right medications can all help protect your bones.

At Red River Health, we administer infusion and injection therapies for osteoporosis, including Prolia® (denosumab), Evenity® (romosozumab-aqqg), and Reclast® (zoledronic acid), in our comfortable infusion suites, with reclining chairs, audio/video streaming, and a snack bar to make every visit a little easier.

Talk with your provider about your bone health, and ask whether one of these therapies could be right for you.

Meet Jennifer Markham, RN, our VP of Infusion Operations and a long-time member of the Red River family.

Jennifer earned her ADN in 2001 and holds an RN Multistate License. She’s an active member of the Infusion Nurses Society (INS) and the National Home Infusion Association (NHIA), with a clinical heart for home infusion.

Jennifer has been part of Red River Pharmacy for years, and opening an infusion clinic was always a shared dream. “Offering this service to our community as another option to receive their infusions in a clinic setting, when they are not a candidate for home infusion, allows us to meet our patients’ needs right where they are. It has been my pleasure to partner with this amazing team and to see it come to fruition.”

What she loves most about caring for patients: “We gain the trust of our patients and provide them with a safe, welcoming environment. If only for a brief moment, we have the opportunity to help shoulder their burden and take a few steps with them on their journey.”

Her wish for every patient: “Don’t wait to take care of yourself, and don’t be afraid to ask for a second opinion. There will never be another you.”

🩺 Beyond the chair: Jennifer lives in Texarkana with her husband David and their three children, Kollin, Taylor, and Reagen, plus Gracie, their basset hound. In 2011, she and David founded Truth Infusion Ministries, where they spread the message of their faith alongside a wonderful group of friends and ministers. When she’s not working, you’ll find her with family, friends, or pouring into ministry work.

Thank you, Jennifer, for everything you pour into our patients, our team, and our community.

May is Lupus Awareness Month. 💜

Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks healthy tissue, most often the joints, skin, kidneys, blood, and heart. It affects an estimated 1.5 million Americans, and the symptoms can look different from one person to the next, which is part of what makes lupus so challenging to diagnose and to live with.

There is no cure yet, but treatment options have come a long way. At Red River Health, we offer infusion therapies prescribed for lupus, including Benlysta® (belimumab) and Saphnelo® (anifrolumab-fnia), in a comfortable, private setting close to home.

If you or someone you love is living with lupus, you don’t have to navigate it alone. Talk with your provider about whether infusion therapy is right for you, and learn more at lupus.org.

The Lupus Foundation of America is the largest force in the fight to cure lupus. Read hundreds of articles and resources, and find dozens of ways to get involved. Join us.

Today is National Nurses Day and at Red River Health, every day starts and ends with our nurses.

From the first warm welcome at the door, to the careful start of every infusion, to the extra moment spent making sure a patient feels safe, supported, and not alone, our nurses are the heart of this center.

To every nurse on our team across Texarkana and Jonesboro: thank you for the trust you build, the comfort you bring, and the expert care you deliver to our patients every single day. We are so grateful for you.

Happy Nurses Day.

Immune deficiencies occur when the body’s immune system does not function properly, making it harder to fight off infections. For some patients, this means frequent or severe infections that take longer to recover from.

Primary immune deficiencies are often lifelong conditions, while others may develop later due to illness or medical treatments. Symptoms can include recurring sinus infections, pneumonia, fatigue, or infections that are difficult to treat.

Early diagnosis and proper treatment can make a significant difference. With the right care plan, many patients are able to better manage symptoms and improve their quality of life.

At Red River Health, we support patients with immune-related conditions through specialized infusion therapies in a comfortable, patient-focused setting.

Beyond the Infusion Chair: Bryan Bowen, MD

At Red River Health, our team is dedicated to patient care both inside and outside the clinic.

Dr. Bryan Bowen, our Medical Director, finds fulfillment in the satisfaction of helping others—a mindset that guides both his work with patients and his leadership of our team. He also values the opportunity to work alongside a staff that shares a common commitment to high-quality care.

Outside of work, Dr. Bowen enjoys anything outdoors and stays busy with his family in Texarkana. He and his wife have three children and one grandchild, and their home is full of life with dogs, chickens, goats, and horses.

We are grateful for Dr. Bowen’s leadership and the care he brings to our patients and team every day.

IVIG, or intravenous immunoglobulin, is a treatment made from antibodies collected from healthy donors. It is used to help patients whose immune systems are either underactive or overactive.

For patients with immunodeficiency, IVIG provides the antibodies the body is missing, helping reduce the risk of infections.

For those with autoimmune conditions, IVIG works differently. It helps regulate the immune system, reducing harmful inflammation and preventing the body from attacking itself.

IVIG is administered through an IV infusion under the supervision of a trained clinical team. Treatment schedules vary based on each patient’s condition and care plan.

At Red River Health, we provide IVIG therapy in a supportive environment, working closely with referring providers to ensure safe and effective care.
