It’s Wednesday and if you’re feeling tired, overwhelmed or stretched too thin this is your gentle reminder that you don’t have to “hold it all together”.

You just need to regulate your nervous system.

Try this today:

🚶🏻Get some fresh air even if it’s just the parking lot or your porch

📲 Put your phone down for 10 minutes

😮‍💨 Take long exhales

🎧Play that one song that calms you down

Self regulation is not about being calm all the time, it is about using your tools to bring yourself back when you’re not.

Here are a few tips to manage the first day:

🎯 Name it to tame it: I feel anxious and excited, they can both coexist
🧘‍♀️🧘‍♂️ Breathe deeply, it sends a message to your brain that you’re okay
🎒 Have your bag ready and your clothes laid out for a stress free morning
🌯 Ear a nutritious breakfast

As we are moving into darker, colder months, you might start to notice a shift in your mood and energy.

Seasonal affective disorder is a type of depression caused by shorter days and reduced light.

Here are some simple self-care tips to support yourself:

• movement- a short walk or workout can energize you
• connection- reach out to friends and family to avoid isolation
• journaling - connect with yourself and get curious about ways to support yourself
• yoga and meditation can help with relaxation and stress relief
• nutritious food - prepare nourishing warm meals or grab a to-go soup
