Just a quick update...

It is recommended by the cdc, my licensing board and liability insurance to use minimal soft services while giving massages. I may request clients to provide their own sheets temporarily to help minimize soft services that I have to contain and sanatize. It has become very difficult to find many of the items I need, disposable drapes being one of those. I did get my disposable face rest covers in today!!! Yay! I’m waiting on a few more items and we will ge ready. Watch your inbox as I start to go text everyone.

My supplies are slowly coming in and I will start contacting individuals soon to schedule.

Please remember that If you are considered "high risk", they are recommending to not book a massage at this time and until further notice.

Their definition of "high risk" is anyone who is 65 or older, anyone that has has heart conditions, asthma, chronic lung disease, compromised or suppressed immunity, severe obesity, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, or liver disease.

If you have anyone high risk in your home it is also better to wait. While I will do my best I cannot guarantee 100% that I have not come in contact with someone that has/will test positive.

Here is a link of recommendations for clients. It includes mask wearing and social distancing among a few other things.

I’d like to start a list of clients who would like to schedule once I have everything I need. I know that some clients are high risk and would prefer to wait. Keep in mind that I will be coming in and out of homes and I can not control what sanitation they have in their home or where they go. I can only control how I sanitize my equipment and self. If you have any doubts at all, please hold off on scheduling. If you’d like to be scheduled please comment here so that I can start working on scheduling soon.

We heard some good new today. Massage establishments can begin to open with restrictions and protocols. I am currently awaiting more information from my licensing board and liability insurance. They will provide me with proper sanitation procedures to put into place on top of what I do now. Our situation is a little different because I provide in home services. It provides some challenges. I will update everyone as I learn more. I am also waiting for multiple shipments of ppe and sanitation products to arrive in the mail. Most of which was ordered over a month ago and still have not arrived. At this time I will most likely start schedule clients the week of June 15th. If supplies come in sooner I will move that date up. Once I have all of my protocols in place I will post them.

I look forward to seeing you all soon!!!

Blood clots and massage do not mix! I continue to follow articles and research in regards to micro clots found in Covid19 patients. I want to ensure that I am up to date on any contraindications for massage this virus may cause once we are allowed to return. This can be a very serious condition that we do not want to aggravate with massage. I hope you all continue to stay safe and healthy as we begin to open local businesses.

Once thought to be a relatively straightforward respiratory virus, covid-19 is proving to be much more complex and frightening

The newest Governor’s Executive Order (May 5) says that massage establishments remain closed until they are specifically added as a reopened service by proclamation or future executive order of the governor. https://gov.texas.gov/news/post/governor-abbott-issues-executive-order-to-expand-openings-of-certain-businesses-and-activities

Under the Executive Order to Expand Openings of Certain Businesses and Activities issued by Gov. Greg Abbott on May 5, massage establishments are instructed to continue to remain closed until authorized to open by the Governor. The exception for medically-necessary massage, as determined by a client's doctor or chiropractor, remains in effect. Massage therapists may not provide massage services for general wellness or other non-medical necessity reasons.
This guidance is in accordance with Executive Orders GA-15 and GA-16 recently issued by Governor Abbott. Massage therapists should be aware of any orders issued in the county or city where the massage therapist practices, as these local orders may impose additional restrictions. The ability to provide massage therapy may change as further governmental orders are issued.

Please continue to check TDLR’s COVID-19 page for additional updates.
