Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program at Montefiore Medical Center, Wakefield Campus is an established ACGME fully accredited 1-year fellowship, founded in 1993. It is a University Hospital of Albert Einstein College of Medicine

Clinical Components
The inpatient Acute Care Unit in the hospital cares for acutely ill older adults. Fellows work with residents in internal medicine and physician assistants, supervised by certified faculty geriatricians.
• Ambulatory Care is provided in a modern outpatient clinic close to the hospital.
• Long-term Care experience, including subacute care and dementia programs, is offered at 3 nursing homes in the Bronx, which differ in several aspects.
• Non-institutional Care includes Home Care, Wound Care, Physical and Rehab Medicine, Palliative Care (with Hospice), and Psychiatry. Educational Aspects, a Strength
A major strength is the teaching component, through bedside rounds, thrice-weekly didactic conferences, and case discussions, besides weekly grand rounds and monthly journal clubs. A Board Review in Geriatric Medicine is offered annually without costs to prepare for the certification examination. Trainees develop their teaching skills through instruction and critical appraisal of presentations. Trainees present abstracts at local, state, or national meetings, many receiving awards. Application:
Applicants can enter the program after 3 years of residency training in the U.S ACGME accredited internal medicine or family medicine, through the ERAS or direct application after MATCH results. A few exceptional applicants with a 3-year residency training outside the U.S. with geriatrics-related experience and scholarly activity may be considered, following approval by the GME. Applicants must use our Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Application, emailed with requested documents. Correspondence and applications may be addressed to:
