Simulation, teamwork, and preparedness in action at our Weiler campus 🚨🫀 Led by Dr. Vilma Joseph, our Weiler Clinical Site Director and Director of Procedural Sedation, the Anesthesiology Department recently hosted an OR ACLS simulation session bringing together nurses, attendings, residents, and medical students to strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration and patient care!

In addition to an incredible weekend at IARS in Montreal, we were equally inspired by the remarkable scholarship and collaboration showcased at the 2026 Society for Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology Annual Meeting. Proud to see outstanding work presented by medical students, residents, fellows, and faculty spanning complex obstetric anesthesia cases, multidisciplinary perioperative care, education, and innovation.

We are especially grateful to our Chief of Obstetric Anesthesia, Dr. Shamanta Reddy, for her unwavering support, mentorship, and dedication to fostering academic growth within our department. Congratulations to everyone who contributed to such thoughtful discussions and meaningful advancements in care for pregnant patients and their families.

A big round of applause for CA3 Resident Dr. Steven Flamer, honored as one of the House Staff Officers of the Year! He celebrated with PD Dr. Romanelli, mentor Dr. Erfani, Pediatric Anesthesia attendings Drs. Yeh and Jaconia, and his wife — a true team behind an outstanding resident. We’re thrilled that he’ll be joining us again soon as our new Pediatric Anesthesia Fellow.

An incredible showing from our Department of Anesthesiology at this past weekend’s International Anesthesia Research Society Annual Meeting in Montreal 🔥🇨🇦 We had 20+ posters, speaking sessions, workshops, and award-winning presentations, showcasing the strength of our residents, fellows, attendings, and Digital Health Lab research team.

Our work spanned key perioperative domains including predictive modeling, patient safety, critical care, delirium, sedation, health disparities, regional anesthesia, and prehabilitation.

Big day for tiny airways 👶🏽👧🏾👦🏻

Our multidisciplinary workshop with Pediatric Anesthesia, ENT, and Pulmonology focused on airway foreign bodies and difficult airway management, featuring the lecture “Sharing is Caring: Anesthesia for the Pediatric Airway Foreign Body” by Dr. Giselle Jaconia as well as hands-on airway skills stations by Dr. Jessica Yeh.

Nothing like a room full of specialists focused on one thing: keeping our kids safe. 💙
