📺 We’re honored to be featured on News 12 The Bronx Rebuilding the Bronx series! Our partnership with Lowe's Home Improvement to transform an empty lot at Gloria’s House Family Residence into a new playground and community space was highlighted. When completed, the space will be a welcoming environment for families to gather and for children to play, benefiting more than 300 families and 600 children each year.

We thank Lowe’s, our dedicated volunteers, and News12 Bronx for sharing this story.

More than 600 clients and employees celebrated at our 10th Annual Recovery Festival in .

This year's theme - "Recovery Is Real: My Recovery, My Journey" emphasized the extraordinary power and multiple paths to recovery from addiction.

It was a full day with games, inflatable obstacle courses, karaoke, dancing, and BBQ. Each of the 12 residential programs and two Peer Alliance Recovery Centers created and revealed a Recovery Is Real banner. Recovery of Excellence Awards were awarded to outstanding clients. We also presented the Recovery Warrior Awards to Elizabeth Callen, Al Benecke, and Brian Jenkins.

Today, we partnered with Lowe's Home Improvement Hometowns Red Vest associates to paint what will soon become a new playground and community space at Gloria’s House, our family transitional residence in the Bronx.

What had been an empty lot will become a welcoming place for families to gather and for children to play. The space will benefit over 300 families and nearly 600 children each year.

Thank you to Lowe's Home Improvement -- and every volunteer who lifted a paint brush!

On 9/11, , the National Day of Service and Remembrance, we honor the lives lost at the World Trade Center, Pentagon, and in Shanksville, PA. We also remember the heroes of that day; the family, friends, and neighbors who succumbed years later to 9/11-related illnesses; and the U.S. military troops who served and sacrificed.

Clients from our 43rd Street Veterans Programs recently enjoyed a day out at MetLife Stadium to watch the New York Jets take on the Pittsburgh Steelers. 🏈

It was a close game - but the real winners were the vets. Outings like this give veterans in recovery a chance to connect, build healthy bonds, and experience fun in a sober environment. These positive activities support both wellness and long-term recovery.

Special thanks to Brian Berry, Veterans Outreach Counselor, for sharing these photos!

It’s Day 2 of the InUnity Alliance Conference, and Samaritan Daytop Village is proud to be an attendee, exhibitor, sponsor, and presenter!

This morning, our Executive team joined Dr. Melissa Earle, Associate Clinical Professor at Stony Brook University School of Social Welfare, to lead an interactive workshop: “Integrating Verbal Intervention Training for Addiction Professionals in Residential Settings.”

The session highlighted our collaborative training initiative with SBU, sharing tools, evaluation frameworks, and results. The workshop demonstrated the benefits of using a "train-the-trainer" model to equip clinical staff with trauma-informed, verbal de-escalation strategies and non-restrictive intervention techniques.

If you’re at the Conference, don’t miss this afternoon’s breakout session: “Embracing Change: Working Through Differences” led by AVP of Residential Treatment Deirdre Rice-Reese. She’ll also present in tomorrow’s closing plenary: “Expanding Access Through Responsive Care for All New Yorkers.”

Congratulations to Annmarie Wallace on completing the Credentialed Alcoholism & Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) program at Samaritan Daytop Village!

"The CASAC program has enhanced my life by giving me a sense of purpose and direction in my career," said Wallace. "It deepened my passion for helping others and gave me the tools to be more effective in my role. Personally, it's empowered me with knowledge and confidence, and reaffirmed my commitment to giving back to the community, especially individuals experiencing homelessness, substance use, and mental health challenges."
