Seeking Shalom: Journey to Peace

Seeking Shalom: Journey to Peace Through the assistance of a counselor, you can find wholeness and peace through individual, couple, family, and group counseling. WHAT SERVICES DO YOU OFFER?

SERVICES ALSO AVAILABLE AT 964 E 228th ST, BRONX, NY 10466. OUR MISSION

Our mission is to help individuals of any age, gender and ethnicity to begin their journey to peace through individual, couple, family, and group counseling. Without peace, our thoughts or actions restrict us from leading satisfying lives. We build protectors in order to survive in our environment and decrease our anxiety. Un

fortunately, these protectors can also result in hurting us, sometimes even when we are unaware of it. We may seem like we cannot get a grip of reality. Our situations become so out of control that all there’s left to do is feel helpless. The decrease in peace makes us feel this and at this moment we are need of help. Through the assistance of a counselor, you’ll learn ways that you can contribute to your mental health and emotional well-being. For those who need help, we can help you find wholeness and peace. Do you desire to experience a deep sense of peace? If so, seeking the assistance of a counselor can be one part of your journey there. With Journey to Peace, worrying about the financial side of the service would not be an issue. With this program, we are offering you low and affordable fees per session. We believe that your financial status should not establish whether you deserve services which could be truly beneficial to you. That is why at Journey to Peace, we are offering outstanding and high quality counseling services from $20 to $30 per session. With this amazing offer, you will be able to visit multiple sessions and feel the impact it can have on your life. We offer counseling services using several different formats depending on what would work best in your situation:
• Individual Counseling: one-on-one work on your issues
• Couple Counseling: working on experienced or predicted issues together
• Family Counseling: focused on the family and individuals as a part of it
• Group Counseling: when working with others with a common concern will be helpful to all
Working alongside your counselor, a suitable format will be chosen. WITH WHICH ISSUES CAN YOU HELP US? We can help you with practically any situation in which a guide would be helpful. Issues can involve your emotional well being to your mental health. It could also be the issues within your marriage or your family. WHEN DO YOU HAVE SESSIONS? Sessions are scheduled at times convenient for everyone. The program is currently running on a part time basis with available times including afternoon, evenings and weekend appointments. HOW OFTEN WILL I BE HAVING SESSIONS? We have sessions once a week or once every two weeks, depending on factors such as the presenting problem, goals accomplished and affordability. You and the counselor will discuss the necessary number of sessions. HOW DO I SCHEDULE MY SESSIONS? We can schedule your sessions over the phone but we strongly recommend that you use our online appointment system. After you create a profile, you can schedule, reschedule, and cancel appointments at your convenience. You can also pay for your sessions online and view all of your invoices in one spot. WHAT KINDS OF GROUPS DO YOU HAVE? We have the following groups:

"The Right Way to Fight"
Clients will learn how to handle frustration and will be able to increase their tolerance of stressful events. They will gain the ability to control their impulses and understand the causes of their impulses. Clients will also be able to define conflict and learn to manage stress quickly while remaining alert and calm, control emotions and behavior, pay attention to the feelings being expressed, and be aware of and respectful of differences. They will be assisted in identifying family dynamics including conflict ambiguity and feelings of loss, separation, and abandonment; and develop coping strategies to address these issues. Clients will verbalize their thoughts and feelings about their families and utilize mutual aid in order to decrease feelings of isolation, anger, and depression. "Take Out the Trash"
This group is an open forum. Clients will verbalize their thoughts and feelings in a welcoming environment. They will have ample opportunity to address any issues that were not addressed in the other groups. Clients will learn to cope and to make healthier lifestyle choices. "Transform Your Thoughts"
This group will help clients redefine their values and expectations and assist them in looking at situations from a different perspective. Similar to storytelling, individuals can alter certain scenes in their lives to give their lives a more positive outlook. Negativistic, guarded, and rigid attitudes will be addressed in a supportive and therapeutic dialogue. This group will provide support and encouragement for clients dealing with low self-esteem and negativistic attitudes. They will learn the difference between assertion, aggression, passivity, tolerance and self-control. Clients will be assisted in determining how to use these methods; e.g. they will be able to say no when harassed. Clients develop a positive sense of self by advocating his/her opinion. They will also be encouraged to increase their functioning so they can succeed in a community environment of living, working, learning, and social relationships. The client can gain pride and dignity; e.g. they will specify at least one positive quality about themselves. This gives them an appreciation of positive qualities as well as limitations. Clients will be able to define self-esteem, understand the causes and triggers of low self-esteem, and learn ways to raise it. WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN “SEEKING SHALOM” AND “JOURNEY TO PEACE?”
