Calvary Hospital was pleased to attend The Catholic Institute of the Food Industry’s installation of new officers recently. CIFI -- a New York-based, non-profit organization founded in 1946 that unites Catholic professionals within the food industry -- has supported Calvary for 40 years. Our relationship is built on a shared commitment to human dignity, faith in action, and community stewardship. We are very grateful to CIFI, its members, and our long-standing alliance which upholds Calvary’s mission of compassion. Pictured here, left to right, are CIFI 2025 Board President Bob Jordan; Calvary President Michael J Fosina MPH, FACHE; Calvary and CIFI stalwart Dennis Berberich; and Calvary Chief Development Officer John Haley. Thank you CIFI! Congratulations to incoming president John Borzumato and everyone at CIFI for their unwavering commitment to Calvary.

Many Calvary staff went the extra mile – figuratively and literally – when the Blizzard of ’26 was blanketing parts of the Bronx in more than a foot of snow this week. One example was Steph, who wasn’t going to let the terrible weather stop her at 4:30AM. So, she strapped rubber and coil traction cleats onto her boots and trekked 1.2 miles through the heart of Morris Park, navigating drifts and crossing wind-whipped intersections, to arrive at work at Calvary before her shift began. Why? Because her Nutrition and Food Services colleagues were counting on her, and the patients and families she cares for needed her. Stephanie’s commitment – and that of all our staff – ensures that even in the toughest conditions, CalvaryCare remains steady. Thanks Steph. Like those cleats, you demonstrate stability and confidence at every step, every day.

Yesterday, Calvary Hospital was filled with Olympic spirit as staff hosted a special watch party for Lydia Frankel to cheer on her granddaughter, Team USA goalie .frankel
Lydia didn't miss a beat of the pulse-pounding overtime victory against Canada, keenly focused on every save and play. When the final whistle blew, the room erupted in joy. “Our prayers worked!” Lydia exclaimed, beaming with pride. Just 24 hours earlier, she had sent a heartfelt voicemail to Aerin, saying: “Love you! I wish you the best of the best of the best!”
Congratulations to Aerin and Team USA—and to the world’s proudest grandmother!

At Calvary, love is more than a feeling; it is our sacred promise. It is a clinical response, as vital to our care as any medicine, felt in the expert relief of a patient’s pain, the skilled hands that restore dignity through meticulous attention, and the specialized presence that ensures no one faces life’s most profound journey alone. Dignity is also an active expression of our love, found in every interaction that celebrates a patient’s individuality and honors their personal preferences. We are profoundly grateful to our staff who open their hearts and to the families who entrust us to care for those they love. Wishing you a Valentine’s Day filled with compassion, peace, and the comfort of knowing you are never alone with Calvary.
