Calvary extends a warm welcome and thank you to The Knights of Pythias from the Domain of New York, who visited with us recently and presented Calvary with a very generous donation. We are grateful for your enduring support and contributions to our community over the last 35 years and deeply thankful for the ways you have brought the Knights’ values of Friendship, Charity, and Benevolence to life at Calvary. The Knights were founded after the Civil War to heal the wounds of conflict and unite people of goodwill — a mission which is as relevant and meaningful as ever. Pictured, from left to right, are Knights brothers Michael Sukenick, Roger Siegel, Bryan Hoffman, and Harvey Rosenshein with Calvary President Michael J. Fosina, MPH, FACHE, center. We are honored to have your steadfast support. Thank you, Knights of Pythias.

Calvary welcomed colleagues from Maison Médicale Jeanne Garnier of Paris this week for a two-day summit, Advancing Excellence in Palliative Practice and End-of-Life Care. The gathering at Calvary Hospital marked not only a celebration of our shared mission and heritage but also a renewed commitment to advancing palliative and end-of-life care, research, advocacy, and education.

Maison Médicale Jeanne Garnier and Calvary are bound by a remarkable legacy that began in 1842, when Jeanne Garnier founded the Dames du Calvaire to care for those facing the end of life with dignity and compassion. Inspired by her vision, Annie Blount Storrs and a community of women in New York established The American House of Calvary in 1899. The Paris hospital was founded in 1874.

Across continents and generations, we have both remained steadfast in our shared mission: to provide comfort, hope, and expert care to those most in need.

Today, we joyfully celebrate Calvary’s 126th anniversary!

As we reflect on more than a century of faith, commitment, and service to Greater New York, we are deeply grateful for the compassion that has defined our journey. Compassion is not just a feeling—it is a powerful action that changes lives, heals hearts, and brings comfort and hope to those around us.

We offer heartfelt thanks to our community, whose unwavering support has empowered Calvary’s mission every step of the way. We look forward to seeing many of our generous supporters at today’s Annual Donor Reception. Your partnership, prayers, and generosity have helped us reach out with love, care, and dignity, making a real difference in countless lives. Thank you!

May we continue to walk together in compassion – serving one another and transforming lives together!
