The Oregon Department of Veterans' Affairs recognizes and honors women who have served in the United States military throughout our country's history, in every branch of military service. They are the trailblazers and history-makers who played and continue to play a huge role in safeguarding the United States.

Residents from Oregon Veterans Home – The Dalles recently had the opportunity to attend a performance by the United States Air Force Band, and it was an incredible experience! 🇺🇸🎶

Residents, staff, and families recently enjoyed a deliciously fun Chocolate Tasting as part of our monthly “Fruit Tasting” series!

After an educational presentation exploring the origins of chocolate — including its historical use in the military — everyone sampled a variety of chocolates. The event ended on a sweet note with a very special fresh-baked brownie and ice cream treat.

This was our largest turnout yet for a Fruit Tasting event… and rightly so — because yes, chocolate is a fruit (from the Theobroma cacao tree 😉).

The Veterans Home residents had a fantastic time visiting The Coffee Shop — and we definitely packed the place! 😊 We enjoyed coffee, cocoa, and delicious fresh-baked goodies while sharing laughter and great conversation.

It was extra special to have staff, volunteers, and even some family members join us for the fun.

A heartfelt thank you to The Coffee Shop for the warm welcome and wonderful hospitality. Everyone had a GREAT time!

Yesterday we celebrated Mardi Gras in style with a festive parade down the main hall — music, masks, and lots of hooting and hollering!

Residents then enjoyed delicious gumbo, fresh beignets, and King Cake, followed by Mardi Gras trivia. It was extra special to have family and friends join the fun!
