Gorge Academy is excited to finally announce our partnership with University of Western States in Portland for a Hands-On Workshop on Monday, August 11th at 10am - 2pm.

This class will give you a close-up look at the anatomical structures of the human body by observing dissected human cadavers that have been prepared for medical students at the University of Western States. This will give massage therapists a detailed view of the anatomy that we work with on a daily basis, and help to increase understanding and awareness of the relationships of these structures.

The objective of the course is to gain hands-on experience with human anatomy through direct observation, enhance your palpation skills by identifying anatomical landmarks, improve your ability to create effective treatment plans based on anatomical knowledge, and better understand the relationship between muscles, bones and connective tissue so you can increase understanding to assist your clients with wellness through massage therapy.

Class cost is $299 per person, and registration is available on the Gorge Academy ProClinic website.

Hair appointments are available with our hair instructor Pam Pacheco and two of the Gorge Academy's hair program alumni, Ella Guenther and Kaylee Fleming. Facial appointments are available on Saturdays only with our esthetics instructor Stacey Grant.

Therapist spotlight! Meet Daryen, the newest member of the ProClinic massage crew.

As a Gorge local, I’ve always been drawn to movement, functional health, and holistic healing, which led me to pursue a career in massage therapy. I trained at the Gorge Academy of Cosmetology and Massage, where I built a strong foundation in therapeutic bodywork, movement-based techniques, and rehabilitative massage, allowing me to approach bodywork as both an art and a science.

I specialize in restoring function and reducing pain through a variety of techniques, including:

Sports & Deep Tissue Massage – Supporting recovery, mobility, and performance.

Myofascial Release & Structural Techniques – Relieving restrictions and improving movement.

Trigger Point Therapy & Muscle Energy Techniques (MET) – Addressing pain points and muscle imbalances.

Relaxation & Stress Relief Massage – Promoting deep rest and nervous system regulation.

In my practice, I tailor each session to meet the individual needs of my clients, whether they’re looking for targeted relief or full-body relaxation. My go-to techniques involve a blend of deep tissue work, trigger point therapy, MET, and gentle relaxation methods, ensuring that each treatment is both effective and intuitive.
