HOW MOLD TRAVEL and get you sick
When testing for mold, it’s important to keep in mind that Mold travels around very similar to dust. Your furniture and personal effects are susceptible to mold contamination. When looking for a good sampling point pay close attention to circular patterns in what may appear to be dust on contents. Mold tends to grow on leather goods and particle board first. A series of samples may be conducted such as Indoor Air Quality sampling, Bi-O-Tape Lift sampling, SWAB sampling, Bulk sampling, Cavity sampling, Dust sampling and Laboratory testing. The number of IAQ samples are dependent on the size and configuration of the building and other living area under the HVAC system. The average number of IAQ air samples ranges from 5 to 8 on an average home or office. It is important to have enough data point to be able to professionally ascertain what is going on inside the living space. Taking less than required number of samples can jeopardized the end analyses results giving misleading information. For consultation contact Indoor Microbial Specialist.

Black Mold (Stachybotrys)
The biggest concern with mold due to water damage in a house is the growth of black mold. Stachybotrys chartarum, as it’s known to scientists, is a micro fungus that occurs rarely in the wild. It instead prefers the cellulose building material of our homes! It often grows in damp areas or places that have suffered water damage. One common breeding ground for it is wallpaper, and you might find the whole wall behind your wallpaper has become infested with black mold.

The mold spores from black mold are harmful for people to breathe. The spores trigger a range of respiratory troubles, leading to coughing and wheezing and other symptoms of "sick building syndrome." The effects are especially pronounced and harmful in infants. Prolonged exposure can cause even more serious troubles, such as headache, vomiting, and bleeding in the lungs. If you notice a rise in these symptoms among the people in your home, you may have black mold growing somewhere out of sight.

“Black mold” or “toxic mold” is, most frequently, referring to one (or many) of the Stachybotrys, Chaetomium, Memoniella & Fusarium mold spore types. These molds are most commonly discovered attached to wet and decomposing building materials such as drywall and wood. Once disturbed it can be detected in the inside air; occasionally, it can be detected in the inside air without having been disturbed during air sampling. www.indoormicrobialspecialist.com

Mold Inspections and Mold Testing (The Villages Florida)

Mold can grow in any part of your house. Fortunately, it’s visible in most cases, and you can see it growing on your bathroom walls or in the corners of your rooms. However, sometimes, mold is hidden since it grows in the ducts or cracks between the walls.
That’s why it’s crucial to get a professional mold inspection since experts use high-quality equipment and sensing tools to find hidden mold.

You should opt for mold inspection for your The Villages, Florida property in the following situations:
• If you are purchasing a new ‘old’ The Villages home, it’s the right thing to do to hire a professional company to deal with mold. In this way, you’ll know if there’s any health hazard or water damage in the house.
• If you’re reinhabiting a house that has been left unoccupied for a long time, you should consider mold inspection. Even though no one was living in the house, high humidity leads to mold growth.
• If you notice black, white, blue, or green stuff growing on the walls and in cracks, you should get in touch with us for a mold inspection. It’s likely that the same mold is also growing in other areas in your home.

Furthermore, you should also consult with Indoor Microbial Specialist (IMS) after mold remediation. It’s important to know if you’ve gotten rid of every last bit of mold in the house.

WHAT IS MOLD?
Mold is a fungus that grows on organic materials, such as wood and paper. It often starts out as a small spot of green or black fuzz, but it will begin to spread if not taken care of quickly. If you have mold growing in your basement walls you need to do something about it right away!

A mold outbreak can be a serious problem and should be dealt with as soon as possible. You should be aware that mold can release tiny spores into the air, which you may inhale. This means it is important to act fast in order to remove all of the molds before things get out of hand!

Two Categories Of Molds:

Allergenic Mold
This type of mold is not harmful and won’t make you sick. It’s very common in homes because it uses dead organic matter as a food source, which can be found anywhere inside your house or outside on plants and trees. This mold only poses a risk when it’s disturbed and the spores become airborne, which can cause allergic reactions in some people.

Pathogenic Mold
The types of molds that will make you sick are pathogenic. Pathogenic molds are dangerous because they release spores into the air that can make you sick when you breathe them in or cause an allergic reaction if your skin comes into contact with them. These types of mold also produce mycotoxins which will weaken the immune system and make you sick.
