We talk a lot about luck this time of year ☘️

But a lot of what looks like “luck” is actually built through small, consistent habits:
showing up, taking care of yourself, setting boundaries, and giving yourself space to rest.

Your mental health is not luck. It is something you can support, one choice at a time.

This St. Patrick’s Day, maybe the goal is not to get lucky…
but to take care of yourself in ways that help you feel more grounded, steady, and supported.

Most people think therapy is just talking about problems, but something deeper is happening.

Every time you practice a new way of responding to stress, conflict, or self-criticism, your brain is literally building new pathways. That’s neuroplasticity in action.

Therapy isn’t just about understanding your patterns. It’s about rewiring the ones that keep you stuck.

In honor of Brain Awareness Week, my new blog explores how therapy helps reshape emotional habits, reactions, and relationships over time.

Because change is not about becoming a different person. It’s about giving your brain more options.

Everyone wants better sleep, but most people never build a routine that actually supports it.

Introducing the Healthy Sleep Starter Pack 💤

Small habits can make a big difference. Sleep and mental health are more connected than most people realize, and improving sleep is often one of the most powerful ways to support emotional well-being.

Which one from this starter pack would help you the most?

Ever notice how stress makes sleep worse… and poor sleep makes stress worse?

That’s the sleep–stress loop.

Poor sleep → higher stress → emotional reactivity → racing thoughts → harder to fall asleep → repeat.

The brain needs sleep to regulate emotions, manage stress, and think clearly. When sleep improves, many people notice their stress tolerance improves too.

Sometimes the most powerful mental health tool is also the most overlooked: sleep.

Most people will try supplements, productivity hacks, or a brand new morning routine before considering something simpler: sleep.

But sleep and mental health are deeply connected. When sleep suffers, so does your mood, focus, stress tolerance, and emotional regulation.

During National Sleep Awareness Week, it might be worth asking:
Are you treating sleep like a priority or like leftover time at the end of the day?

In the newest blog, I explore why sleep may be one of the most overlooked mental health tools and small ways to improve it.

Daylight Saving Time is here, which means longer evenings, more sunlight… and maybe feeling a little off for a few days.

Even a one-hour shift can affect sleep, mood, and energy. If you feel a little tired or out of sync this week, you’re not alone. Your body just needs time to adjust.

A few simple ways to ease the transition:
• Get outside in the morning sunlight
• Keep a consistent bedtime
• Avoid caffeine late in the day
• Be patient with your energy levels

Think of this week as a gentle reset, not a productivity test.

Healthy ambition and toxic productivity can look very similar on the surface.

Both involve goals, discipline, and wanting to grow.

The difference is how they make you feel.

Healthy ambition energizes you while toxic productivity convinces you that nothing is ever enough.

If growth has started to feel like pressure instead of progress, it might be time to shift the mindset.

Sustainable growth is not about doing more. It is about doing what matters in ways that actually last.

Welcome to March! Be honest… how many of your New Year’s resolutions quietly disappeared because they became too much?

If your “growth” goals turned into pressure, guilt, or burnout, you’re not failing. You may have just been chasing growth the exhausting way.

In my newest blog, Grow Without the Grind, we’re talking about how to pursue personal growth without toxic productivity, so you can stay ambitious without feeling chronically behind.

You don’t have to optimize every hour of your life to become better. Sustainable growth feels steady, not frantic.

What are green flags in communication?

They are not about perfection. They are about emotional safety. A partner who asks what you need, reflects your feelings, and does not rush to fix every emotion is helping build strong communication patterns in relationships.

These patterns increase trust, resilience, and long term connection.

If you are working on strengthening communication in your relationship, therapy can provide practical tools to help you get there. Reach out to me today to learn more.

Ever notice how fast your brain goes into “deploy solutions” mode when your partner says they had a bad day?

You are halfway to reorganizing the calendar, drafting emails, and creating a five step improvement plan before they even finish the story.

Sometimes growth looks like resisting the urge to solve it and instead say, “That sounds really frustrating.”

Healthy communication patterns in relationships are built on emotional safety, not emergency response mode.

Just remember, empathy first and solutions second.

Ever notice how quickly we jump into solution mode when someone we love is stressed?

Sometimes what strengthens relationships most is not fixing the problem. It is listening to the feeling behind it.

In this week’s blog, I break down how communication patterns in relationships shift when we lead with empathy instead of advice, why emotional safety matters more than efficiency, and how a simple question like “Do you want me to listen or brainstorm?” can change everything.

If you have ever felt unheard or unappreciated in conversations, this one is for you.

Somewhere along the way, we confused productivity with worth.

If your self-esteem rises and falls with your to-do list, you’re not broken. You have been conditioned.

You are allowed to exist without performing.

About Dr. Morel

It can be so overwhelming and scary to struggle and not know where to turn next... but in the words of Brene Brown, “We don’t have to do all of it alone. We were never meant to.” This sums up what I've learned my years of experience. In therapy with me, I aspire to help support you through life's challenges, achieve your personal goals, grow in self-awareness, connect with important emotions, explore foundational experiences, nurture healthy relationships, and finally, build resilience for the future. You can do this and I can help.

I've spent the last decade training in the latest psychological assessment and therapeutic techniques, preparing me to serve effectively in my roles. In 2019, I graduated with a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Purdue University (an APA Accredited Program). I specialize in mood/personality disorders, trauma recovery, relationship issues, identity development, career concerns, and psychological assessment. I think it's helpful to consider your unique history (e.g., familial, social, or institutional systems that influence you) to help us make sense of what’s going now and how we can work together to address it. I truly believe that each person is doing the best they can at any given moment with the resources and tools they have. Let's work together to explore and integrate your many strengths as you gain new insights and tools to make productive steps forward.

I am a Licensed Psychologist in the state of Texas (License #38550). Additionally, I am credentialed as a National Register Health Service Psychologist. I’ve been providing therapy and assessment services since 2013, and have been serving clients in Texas since July 2018. Feel free to read the About Me page of my website to learn more about my training, background, and experiences.

I have an office in The Woodlands, Texas where I provide in-person care. I am also able to provide psychotherapy via tele-health in the following states through PSYPACT jurisdiction: Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, and Virginia (approved state list updated as of Jan 2021).
