January may be ending, but the impact of stalking does not magically disappear when the calendar flips.

If you have lived through chronic fear, you may still feel on edge even when things are quieter. That does not mean you are overreacting. It means your nervous system learned to stay alert to keep you safe.

I just published a new blog on rebuilding a sense of safety after stalking with practical, gentle steps you can start using now, plus advocacy resources for safety planning and documentation.

If this is your story, you deserve support and you do not have to do it alone.

Mentors, quick boundary check. If mentoring has started to feel heavier than you expected, you may not need to quit. You may just need clearer expectations.

I posted a simple Mentor Boundary Audit with the top 5 questions that reveal where your time and energy are leaking and what to tighten up so mentoring stays meaningful and sustainable. Save this for the next time you feel tempted to say yes to everything.

Winter storm warning stress is real, especially when the forecast includes ice and extreme cold. Here is your reminder to take care of your body and your nervous system.

Quick checklist:
• Stay warm and gather blankets and supplies
• Charge devices and keep flashlights ready
• Avoid driving on icy roads if you can
• Check on neighbors, older adults, and pets
• Wrap or drip exposed pipes

And for your nerves: breathe in slow, exhale slower, take a break from the news, and focus on the next small step. You do not have to do everything at once.

Mentors, this one is for you. If your mentoring conversations sometimes turn into “so how has everything been” followed by an hour disappearing into the void, a simple agenda can change everything.

Here is a 6-point mentoring agenda template that keeps meetings focused, supportive, and sustainable for both of you. More clarity, less burnout, and your time stays intact. Save this post for your next check in.

Mentoring is meaningful work. It is also how your calendar quietly becomes overbooked and your patience starts disappearing. If you have ever thought, “I want to help, but I cannot do this at the expense of my own sanity,” this blog is for you.

In honor of MLK Day, I wrote a practical guide on mentoring with purpose while keeping it sustainable. You will learn how to set clear boundaries, choose a mentoring structure that fits your life, and spot the early signs of burnout before you hit a wall.

Winter has a way of making everything feel heavier.
Lower energy. Shorter days. Less patience.

These are not “fix your life” steps.
They are small, realistic ways to support your nervous system through winter burnout or winter depression.

Save this for the days motivation goes into hibernation ❄️

Winter Burnout Starter Pack ❄️

• Coffee is no longer working
• Everything feels like too much
• Low energy, low patience
• Motivation went into hibernation
• Counting down to spring

If winter has you feeling exhausted but not necessarily sad, you might be dealing with burnout, not laziness. Burnout happens when stress outpaces recovery, and winter tends to speed that up.

Gentle reminder: rest is not quitting, and support is allowed.

Winter has a way of making everything feel harder.
Getting out of bed feels like a workout.
Motivation clocks out early.

So how do you know if you are experiencing winter burnout or something deeper, like depression?

My latest blog breaks down winter burnout vs depression in a clear, human way and helps you understand when rest might be enough and when extra support could help.

Take a moment to read it and give yourself permission to be gentle this season: https://drsamanthamorel.com/post/winter-burnout-vs-depression/

About Dr. Morel

It can be so overwhelming and scary to struggle and not know where to turn next... but in the words of Brene Brown, “We don’t have to do all of it alone. We were never meant to.” This sums up what I've learned my years of experience. In therapy with me, I aspire to help support you through life's challenges, achieve your personal goals, grow in self-awareness, connect with important emotions, explore foundational experiences, nurture healthy relationships, and finally, build resilience for the future. You can do this and I can help.

I've spent the last decade training in the latest psychological assessment and therapeutic techniques, preparing me to serve effectively in my roles. In 2019, I graduated with a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Purdue University (an APA Accredited Program). I specialize in mood/personality disorders, trauma recovery, relationship issues, identity development, career concerns, and psychological assessment. I think it's helpful to consider your unique history (e.g., familial, social, or institutional systems that influence you) to help us make sense of what’s going now and how we can work together to address it. I truly believe that each person is doing the best they can at any given moment with the resources and tools they have. Let's work together to explore and integrate your many strengths as you gain new insights and tools to make productive steps forward.

I am a Licensed Psychologist in the state of Texas (License #38550). Additionally, I am credentialed as a National Register Health Service Psychologist. I’ve been providing therapy and assessment services since 2013, and have been serving clients in Texas since July 2018. Feel free to read the About Me page of my website to learn more about my training, background, and experiences.

I have an office in The Woodlands, Texas where I provide in-person care. I am also able to provide psychotherapy via tele-health in the following states through PSYPACT jurisdiction: Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, and Virginia (approved state list updated as of Jan 2021).
