Traction is defined as the act of pulling or a state of being pulled. Decompression, on the other hand, is defined as the act of relieving pressure.
As more and more research and case studies are published, the body of evidence seems to lead to the fact that coupled with a comprehensive approach, decompression is different than traction. The primary difference between axial traction and spinal decompression is the progressive logarithmic computer application of force that overcomes the patients muscle contraction.
Spinal Decompression Treatment pro-gramme at Renew Life involves gently reducing the pressure in the slipped disc to create a vacuum-like effect within the cavity with the help of a chiropractic machine, allowing the disc to naturally return to its original position and diffusing the pressure on the nerves. We see better success rate with this pro-gramme that targets specific regions, as compared to other conventional decompression treatments that uses a pulley system.
Spine decompression gently stretches the spine, changing the forces on the joints. The treatment creates a negative pressure (vacuum-like effect), causing the disc to naturally retract and return to the original position. When this happens, the pressure on the nerves at the sides of the discs is reduced.
