This Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re breaking down what three common conditions actually look like, because the stereotype is often wrong. This week: depression.

Most people picture depression as someone who can’t get out of bed. But in your 30s, it might look like snapping at your kids for no reason. In your 50s, it might look like fatigue your doctor keeps calling “normal aging.” In your 60s, it might be grief that just won’t go away.

That’s exactly why so many people miss it—in themselves and in the people they love. If something feels off but doesn’t match what you think depression “should” look like, that doesn’t make it less real.

If you want to talk through what you’re feeling, we can help connect you with a provider. Link in bio.

As an entrepreneur and avid marathoner, is familiar with the concept of short-term discomfort for long-term gain. But injecting herself with fertility drugs was a whole new emotional and physical challenge. “There’s a specific kind of boss energy that comes with trying to build your own safety net. I was the one doing the work, making the appointments, and literalizing my hope. For a few days, I felt invincible,” she writes. Then came the emotional rollercoaster.

Noah Kahan’s new album “The Great Divide” is finally here, and it’s bringing up big feelings. ICYMI, Kahan recently talked about his experience with body dysmorphia, disordered eating, and other mental health issues in his new Netflix documentary, “Out of Body.”

“I watched it twice—once as a fan and once as a therapist,” says Hallie Kritsas, a licensed mental health counselor at Thriveworks. Click the link in bio to hear more about why she thinks this documentary is one of the most honest portrayals of men’s mental health out there.

If you’ve watched Shrinking, you know it’s full of ethical therapy violations. But it’s also one of the most honest portrayals of healing, community, and being human.

Healing isn’t a straight line. Setbacks don’t erase your progress. And your therapist? They’re figuring it out too.

That’s what the show nails.

Productive communication is key to a healthy workplace.

Thriveworks therapist Hallie Kritsas recently spoke with HuffPost about how passive-aggressive comments—like “per my last email” or “just a reminder”—can leave the other person feeling frustrated or unheard.

Learn more about what these phrases really communicate and how to respond in a healthier way:

Are you guilty of saying this in an email or to a coworker?

Could love with AI ever feel real? According to a new survey, about 1 in 5 AI users believe it can be. Some people are already using chatbots romantically.

Our therapist Alexandra Cromer told Newsweek that while feelings are valid, AI isn’t sentient—real romantic relationships are about two autonomous people choosing each other, with unique differences and influences.

There are risks too: depending on AI for emotional connection might lead to isolation, depression, or drift from meaningful human bonds.

You can read the full article here:

Roughly 8% said their chatbot expressed love unprompted, and 42% are concerned that AI psychosis could affect them or someone they know.
