Early detection is one of the most effective ways to fight breast cancer. Regular screenings can find cancer before symptoms appear—when it’s most treatable.

Here are a few general screening guidelines to keep in mind:

- Talk with your healthcare provider about when to begin screening based on your personal and family history.
- Most women begin annual mammograms around age 40.
- Women at higher risk—such as those with a family history or dense breast tissue—may need to start earlier or add other imaging tests.
- Continue regular screenings as long as you’re in good health.

Knowledge, awareness, and early detection can make all the difference. If you’re due for your screening, now is the perfect time to schedule it.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Did you know that 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime?

This month, we’ll be focusing on raising awareness and highlighting the importance of early detection, education, and empowerment in the fight against breast cancer.

While many early-stage breast cancers are found during routine mammograms, it’s important to talk with your healthcare provider if you notice:

• New lumps or thickening in the breast or underarm
• Swelling in part or all of a breast
• Changes in breast skin texture (dimples or puckering)
• Breast or ni**le pain
• Ni**le changes, such as inversion or discharge
• Redness or scaling on the breast or ni**le
• Unusual asymmetry or changes in breast shape or size

Together, through awareness and proactive care, we can make a difference.

Beta-amyloid PET is an advanced brain imaging scan that helps detect amyloid plaques—abnormal protein deposits linked to Alzheimer’s disease and other memory disorders.

Why it matters:

- Helps clarify the cause of memory loss
- Supports more accurate diagnosis
- Guides personalized care planning

While it’s not a screening test for everyone, it can provide important answers when memory changes remain unexplained.

Knowledge is power—early clarity can help patients and families plan ahead with confidence.
