Hey Friends! We need your help. Please contact your State Representative and ask him or her to support SB 252, The Fair Meds Act. This Bill will require Pharmacy Benefits Managers (PBMs), Express Scripts, Caremark, Optum (United Health Care), Prime Therapeutics (Blue Cross) etc., to pay pharmacies a fair price for the medications we are dispensing. It will require them to pay the same price Alabama Medicaid pays. Right now we are being forced to accept less than we pay the wholesaler for drugs in many cases. Alabama has seen an average net loss of 27 local pharmacies per year in the last six years. Without the FAIR Meds Act, these losses will continue to increase. This Bill, among other things, will prevent these PBMs from forcing patients to use the PBM owned mail order pharmacy. When was the last time a mail order pharmacy sponsored your child's sports team, band, cheerleading squad, club or church event?
Our Representative in this area, House District 105 is Chip Brown. He is on the House Health Committee. If this Bill passes the Health Committee it will then be voted on by the full Alabama House of Representatives. House 105 consists of Grand Bay, St. Elmo, Irvington, Theodore, Hollingers Island, Mon Luis Island, Dog River, Fowl River, Coden, Belle Fontaine, Dauphin Island and Bayou La Batre. Representative Brown's email address is: chip.brown@alhouse.gov Ph: 334-261-0447. Please Mr. Brown to support SB 252, The FAIR Meds Act. He has always been fair and supportive in the past.
If you live in another district please call me at the Pharmacy: 251-973-0805 or my cell: 251-366-1131 and I call tell you who your Representative is and how to contact them.
If you don't want to lose us and other Community Pharmacies please contact your representative and ask them to support The FAIR Meds Act.
Thank you for your help! We appreciate all of you so much.
Frank
