Our new tree this year brings me so much joy! 🎄It took hours of research and then finally pulling the trigger on one, but I’m so glad I did!

We have had multiple people visit and think it’s real 💁🏼‍♀️ so I’ll take that as a high compliment!

Finnley as always, claims the tree as her property during this season. I mean, can you blame her? 😻 The last picture shows how chaotic our living room usually is with baby items now, and our cat just trying to find peace and my attention 🤣

After giving it a lot of thought, prayer, and discussing with my husband, I have made the decision to extend my leave from re-opening up my interior design business again. This decision has come after bringing our daughter into our lives. It was always an option on the table for me to be a stay at home mom to our kids, and truthfully, I wasn’t sure how I’d feel.

I can confidently say that since becoming a mother, I have found great peace, purpose, and desire for presence within our home being there for her and God-willing our future children.

This decision wasn’t easy to come to because I have poured a lot of energy and love into building Untapped Potential Designs over the last 4 years. I *truly* do not believe this is THE END, it is more of a ‘see you again at a different time’ situation. Realizing that design work will always be there, but my daughter won’t always be this age was what really shifted my perspective.

I want to be the best homemaker I can be for our family in this season of life. I want to build a community connection, open my home to others with love and comfort, be the best wife I can be, and be more present each and every day as I raise our daughter.

There is still a lot of design projects I’d like to tackle in our own builder grade home, so as I do those projects, I will make sure to still share with you all. If you’re someone who knows me personally/is local to where we live and feels bummed about this news because you had a project in mind for me to help you with, please don’t hesitate to still reach out to me! I plan to continue being a resource for people who are local. If my schedule does allow for sprinkled in design assistance at that time, I’d love to help you!

I am so happy with the first project I’ve done in our house since having our daughter!

Project time management looks a lot different now, but it’s challenged me to fit work into odd pockets of nap times and increased my painting speed 😂

Our kitchen is tiny and builder grade. We desperately needed more storage + charm, and this hutch that I got off of marketplace was the perfect piece to customize for our space. I’m so excited to continue working on our kitchen and making it feel more like a cozy cottage.

I was also extra proud of my ability to use scrap wood we had from our daughter’s nursery project. The beadboard backing was left over, as was the blue painted crown and plywood.

3 weeks ago we welcomed our sweet baby girl into the world! We couldn’t be more in love and excited!

I designed this nursery to be gender neutral, but hung some bird paintings above the crib that felt a touch feminine. 🙈 I guess one could say my heart knew it was a girl! 💕 I cannot wait to watch her make so many memories in this room. I can also 100% say that I am so happy we finished this space before she came given how many hours I spend nursing and rocking her.

The Nursery - one of the longest room makeovers I’ve ever completed due to the humbling realization that I can’t do it all pregnant and needed lots of help from family! ❤️

I am so proud of how this room turned out and the sheer amount of love and care that was put into making it special. The goal was to keep it whimsical, colorful, and nature inspired so it would be gender neutral.

Some of my favorite elements are:
• The crown + beadboard that added character to our builder grade room.

• The mobile that I made by hand! Thank goodness I sewed all those little animals early on in my pregnancy! I’m still shocked I was able to DIY something like that! 🐤🦊🐝

• The custom bookcase Aaron and I built into that nook in the room.

• The curtains + crib skirt that my mom lovingly helped sew!!

The only thing that’s left is meeting our little one (hopefully this week 🤞🏼)!

BUSINESS UPDATE: Due to the number of active clients I currently have in my calendar, I will not be accepting new clients until Fall of 2024 as I will be on maternity leave. 👩🏼‍🍼

I hope everyone understands! I will *hopefully* still be sharing inspiration from our home as time allows. ☺️

We desperately needed a new ottoman for our living room.
(See last photo to know what ottoman we had been using)

1) we lack storage in our small space
2) there were too many brown tones happening
3) I wasn’t the biggest fan of the metal base and tufted top of our previous one

Almost 8 months ago I found an ottoman at the Restore Habitat for Humanity for $25! It was the exact size of our L-sectional opening and it had storage! The only downside was that it was brown again, faux leather, and had a tufted top. I knew I could solve this with some new fabric and legs.

I love pattern mixing with pillows, rugs, and other textiles in our home. Which is why I went with a subtle stripe pattern. I added even more personality by sewing the top into 4 quadrants and adding a mustard velvet edging.

What are your thoughts on the flipped ottoman? Would you ever try reupholstering something to give it new life?
