Is it an actual injury…or is it your mechanics?

Most lift-related pain isn’t a “you’re broken” issue—it’s a load + technique + capacity mismatch. As a DPT, I start by clearing the medical side (rule out red flags/tissue injury). If anatomy checks out, we tighten up your lift:

• Set-up & bar path (stance, grip, foot pressure, range of motion)
• Bracing & ribcage–pelvis position for real spinal support
• Smart loading: weight, volume, and tempo that match your capacity
• Targeted mobility/accessory work (only what you need)

Having trouble with a stubborn pain in joints? Steven—a client of ours and avid golfer—did.

Despite being in shape and trying a number of treatments from other physical therapists, he just couldn’t seem to get past his “tennis elbow” or elbow tendonitis.

Why?

Well, it wasn't tendonitis at all. Tendonitis (inflammation of the tendons) is often mistaken for TENDINOSIS — a chronic degeneration of the tendon fibers. This happens due to repetitive stress, overload, or poor movement patterns.

The fix sounds counter-intuitive — especially when something hurts. The real solution is:

✅ Gradually exposing the tendon to controlled stress (eccentrics, isometrics, and progressive loading).
✅ Correcting movement patterns, strength deficits, and mobility limitations that contribute to the problem.
✅ Providing the tendon with the proper stimulus to heal and remodel — and often, that stimulus is HEAVY LOAD applied in a focused, systematic way.

The answer ISN'T shutting things down — it’s targeted, progressive loading.

That’s exactly what we did with Steven. Today, Steven is pain-free, back to lifting and swinging strong.

Physical therapists can also help you with small concerns. Sometimes all it takes is a single visit, a small change to your routine, or expert reassurance that you’re on the right track.

We’ve all been there—the shoulder discomfort that lingers for weeks, the knee or elbow "tendonitis" that flares up every time we train or exercise. But it’s not “bad enough” to stop, so we push through.

The shoulder is one of the most complex joints in the body—and one of the most overused in training. Whether it’s pressing, pulling, or overhead work, limited mobility or soft tissue restrictions can hold you back and lead to nagging discomfort.

We’ve all felt it—whether it’s a twinge, tightness, or a sharp pain that stops you mid-movement. But what does it actually mean?

Here’s the truth: Pain isn’t always a red light… but it’s definitely not a green one either.

Before you panic, ask yourself: Did this come out of nowhere, or only with certain movements? Does the discomfort linger? Is it an old injury?

Know your pain and what to do:
✅ Random pain that disappears? Keep training—just monitor it.
✅ Recurring pain with certain lifts? Check your technique or modify.
✅ Lingering pain? Time to dig deeper.
✅ Old injury acting up? Don’t ignore familiar warning signs.
