Do you know anyone who has ever been teased for being “too sensitive?” Let’s flip the script right now and let it be known that sensitivity is actually a gift. In a world that gives its attention to “toughness,” the capacity to be sensitive is a rare and wonderful quality that is too often overlooked. Consider: if you are sensitive, it is easier to “read the room.” There’s an instinctive attunement to a whole spectrum of emotions (instead of just happy, sad or angry…) and to the nuances of how others feel. Sensitivity also opens access to the exquisite beauty that is all around us (feeling things more), and to the hope for a better future for all (awareness of our shared humanity).

Honor your sensitivity and see it as the gift it is, and may our hearts guide us towards kindness, compassion, and a brighter future for all. 🌟💕

Leave a 💕if you have this awesome quality or appreciate someone who does.

Tia, 32, grew up in a home where she felt sorry for her parents. She watched them struggle financially and saw her dad work to the point of exhaustion.

Her parents fought constantly over money. Her father would call her mother ungrateful and her mother felt deep resentment for being financially controlled. She was a little peacekeeper since age 7. Cheering up her mom after fights and listening to her father vent about how much he did for the home.

She became used to having her emotional needs disregarded. And used to fixing those around her. It was her normal. On a subconscious level, she knew her parents were so overwhelmed. She felt like she needed to be the strong one or the glue of the family.

As an adult, she is attracted to men like her father. Men who prioritize themselves and their own emotions over everything else.

When she meets Tyler, she is smitten. He’s silly and loves hard like her father. But he’s also extremely self focused like he was. Tyler tells her about his last relationship and Tia instantly feels sorry for him. As he goes on about all the terrible things his ex did, she feels close to him. She plays this role well. She knows how to nurture him and confuses sympathy with a feeling of connection.

9 months in, she notices Tyler is distant. He doesn’t contribute to the house chores and has little time for her. When she tries to talk to him about the issues she has, he calls her controlling. She wants him to be there for her, but he makes it clear that he’s already dealt with enough from his ex. And that she should be understanding.

Tia knows that she’s not getting much back. Feeling unlovable, she gives even more. She knows Tyler has had a rocky past and she knows that he’s limited in his emotional intelligence. She tells herself one day he will change and that if she just sticks it out enough he will see what he has in her.

He gives her the emotional breadcrumbs she has always known as love
