PMS is common. PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder) is more severe and often misunderstood.

PMS may include bloating, mild mood changes, and fatigue before your cycle.

PMDD goes beyond that, with symptoms like:
• Intense mood swings
• Irritability or anger
• Anxiety or depression
• Difficulty concentrating

If symptoms are disrupting your work, relationships, or daily life, it may be more than PMS. Talking to your healthcare provider is a good first step or you can call us for an appointment at 985.448.1216.

Your body changes over time, but knowing what’s expected and what’s not can make all the difference.

• In your 20s and 30s, irregular cycles, severe cramps, or ongoing fatigue shouldn’t be dismissed as “just part of life.”
• In your 40s, some cycle changes may be normal as you approach perimenopause, but heavy bleeding, skipped periods for months, or sudden symptoms deserve attention.
• After menopause, any vaginal bleeding is not considered normal and should always be evaluated.
• No matter your age, persistent pain, unusual discharge, or noticeable changes in your body are worth a conversation.

Understanding what’s typical helps you recognize when something isn’t and when it’s time to check in with your provider.

Regular pap smears are one of the most effective ways to prevent cervical cancer.

Your screening schedule matters.
• Ages 21–29: Pap smear every 3 years
• Ages 30–65: Pap smear every 3 years or Pap + HPV test every 5 years

Regular screenings help catch changes early when they’re most treatable. Make an appointment with your healthcare provider or call us at 985.448.1216
