The Thief River Falls Police Department will be hosting the 2025 Night to Unite event at Centennial Park across from Northland college, on Tuesday Aug 5th starting at 5:00pm.

Thanks to several businesses around the community there will be several inflatable obstacle courses and inflatable games for the kids. Including an inflatable axe throwing game and Field goal kicking game. The Thief River Falls Archery club will also have an archery game for the kids.

The Police Dept will have our Drones demonstration for the public and have a mini drone for the kids to fly.

Come meet the new TRF PD K9 Banner and his handler Wayde Jenson.

As always, we will have The Police Dept, Fire Dept, and Ambulance vehicles for everyone to look at and kids to take pictures in.

We will have music by Ivar Martell and Keybeats. We will be serving free Hotdogs, Chips and Watermelon along with Root Beer floats for everyone.

We will also have door prizes for kids and adults including 10 bikes and helmets.

Please bring your family and enjoy a free meal, music, and get to know your local police and first responders.

Earlier this month we touched on depression in older adults, and now we want to discuss su***de. The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) has another great article we would like to share that discusses su***de and the warning signs specifically in older adults.

"Su***de rates in older adults are higher than you might think. In 2020, adults aged 75 and older had the highest su***de rates of any age group. While older adulthood can be a time of newfound freedom to focus on fun and family, it can also be a time of many difficult life changes like losing loved ones, experiencing more health concerns, and having less independence. These life changes can come alongside feelings of grief, sadness, isolation, and despair, and some older adults may start thinking of su***de as a way to escape these painful emotions."

Emma Benoit is returning to our region April 2, 2025!

If you missed her speaking to our community last fall, we highly encourage you to come and see her at the Marshall County School.

Her presentation, presence and story is very touching. Mental Health can be a hard conversation to have, and Emma continues to spread awareness on this all too important topic.
