Chris Donarski Elizabeth Rose Donarski
On January 16th, with the roads closed we were unable to make it to Fargo for Chris's extended EEG. He is now scheduled for February 16. He will be admitted for a week, to Sanford's EMU to rule out Epilepsy.
Once Chris is finished with his EEG, the Fargo Sanford Neurologist said they have a rehab program right there. So he would be admitted for 4-6 weeks to try and improve even more.
His cognitive abilities suffer when he pushes himself physically. Sometimes he has "glitches" where he stares into space until someone jars him back. He still has seizure activity at least once a week. His memory isn't like it used to be either. ( Sometimes it feels like talking to someone with Alzheimer's). But we push through and try our best to look at the positives! An occasional joke about him in his wheelchair, or being shorter than everyone gets a chuckle.
Chris also got his new speech device,so if he's unable to talk or move his hands he can communicate with his eyes through the device. It is a really cool thing.
Chris has made amazing strides this past year. With the help of Rehab Authority, Kim, and Libby, Chris went from not feeling his legs to walking almost 300 steps with a walker. He definitely couldn't have done that without those wonderful people. They are appreciated beyond words.
Without Chris and Elizabeth's families we wouldn't be able to do it either. They are there thick and thin. Chris's parents especially when Elizabeth needs a little weekend break.
After a year of waiting, Elizabeth will finally be hired as Chris's PCA.
We definitely couldn't do this without the support, love, and kindness of our friends and family.
