As we bring attention to Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re proud to shine a light on the compassionate team behind SilverCare Behavioral Health Unit—a place where healing, dignity, and hope come together every day. ✨
At URMC, SilverCare is more than a unit—it’s a safe and supportive environment for older adults who need specialized psychiatric care during some of life’s most challenging moments.
Our 18-bed geriatric behavioral health unit provides short-term, inpatient care designed to help patients age 55 and older stabilize and return to their baseline as quickly as possible. We work with the patient and his/her support system to coordinate care following hospitalization.
Every treatment plan is thoughtfully individualized, addressing conditions such as:
- Depression
- Bipolar Disorder
- Generalized Anxiety Disorder
- Schizophrenia & Schizoaffective Disorder
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
- Behavioral challenges related to Dementia
But what truly sets SilverCare apart is our people. 💙 Our dedicated team walks alongside patients—and their loved ones—with compassion, respect, and understanding. From admission to discharge, we partner closely with families and support systems to ensure a smooth transition back home and continued care beyond hospitalization.
If someone you love is struggling, help is here, and recovery is possible. Call 706-646-5725 to learn more, or visit us at urmc.org.
