Last week, we had a special visit from two volunteers, Derik and Vicky, who helped assist with weekly activities. We were thrilled to have both of them visit the facility and participating in morning donuts and coffee.

Today, one of our residents, Doris, had a special visit from her son, Greg. While spending time together, Doris got a fresh manicure, courtesy of Greg! She always enjoys getting her nails done weekly as a part of our “Fancy Nails” service that our activity department offers, but this week was extra special.

Last week, representatives from Altercare Thornville, Altercare Somerset, Altercare Lanfair, and Altercare Canal Wi******er joined forces and attended the Fairfield Country Senior Expo. Jessica Martinez, Elizabeth Stevens, and Melissa Sheppard spent the day sharing information with nearly 300 attendees. This was such a great opportunity to represent Altercare and speak with the seniors in our community.

This week, our residents and staff enjoyed a Luau themed party! The lantern decorations were made by our very own residents and were the perfect touch. We enjoyed great snacks, musical entertainment, and quality time with one another.

Meet our July Employee of the Month… Amber!

Amber Miller is our receptionist and also helps out in activities. During her 2 years as a part of our team, Amber has enjoyed building relationships with the residents and watching them succeed. Her motivation to come to work every day is being able to be a part of a great team and work environment. When asked what advice she would give to new employees joining the team, Amber stated, “Smile. You never know if someone’s having a rough day. Your smile could change someone’s day.

Amber has a dog and a cat. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her nieces and nephew, reading, and enjoying the outdoors. A fun fact about Amber is that her favorite food is Mexican!

We are so thankful to have Amber as a part of our team, and we can’t wait to see what her future has in store for her. Congratulations, Amber! 💙

Last week, Altercare Somerset and Altercare Thornville teamed up to attend the Perry County JFS monthly job fair. Regional Staff Coordinator, Katie Mossholder, Administrator, Andrea Cullinan, and Staff Coordinator, Courtney Riffee, represented Altercare alongside 11 other local business looking to recruit. These ladies did a wonderful job encouraging attendees to become part of our team and work alongside other passionate caregivers.

The ladies craft group knocked it out of the park with this craft! Our facility has a lake themed atmosphere as we are located close to Buckeye Lake. This lily pad craft brought a fun pop of color to the facility, especially with all of the rainy days we’ve been experiencing in southern Ohio. Shout out to Martha for keeping the ladies busy and motivated!

A few weeks ago, we celebrated the fathers of our facility with a Father’s Day Cookout. The residents, staff, and families had a great time eating some delicious food, playing a pool noodle game, and spending time with one another.
