Here is an example from Hayden Health Mart to show you how PBM’s are trying to drive independent pharmacies out of business.
This customer had a prescription for their child for an epi-pen.
We filled it for the generic which was required by the PBM.
Our cost: $286.50
PBM paid: $138.75
Patient copay: $30
Loss to pharmacy: $-117.75
This happens many times every day!

This is not sustainable. We must have PBM reform or there will be no independent pharmacies left.

This is money [Jobs, homes, groceries, taxes] leaving Alabama because a PBM requires the patient to have their prescription provided by an out-of-state specialty pharmacy.
The medication is readily available at a Jefferson County, AL pharmacy wholesaler. It is in stock TODAY and available for on-site pickup. Instead, this patient will wait for the medication because the PBM chose the drug rebate over the patient's needs. ... The patient lives in our community, the patient has family in our community, the pharmacy is in your community, the pharmacy employees are in your community - PBM reforms touch many lives
Contact your Alabama State Legislators and remind them that Alabama NEEDS PBM REFORM. If you are a state teacher, state employee, or local government employee [PEEHIP, SEIB, LGHIB], please reach out to RSA and your RSA Representatives and let them know that YOU WANT PBM REFORM.

We need your help NOW!! This is numbers from the first 2 months of this year. We lost money on almost 24% of our prescriptions in January and so far a little over 20% of them in February!! This morning we had to chose to either take care of our patient or lose $95! This is not sustainable, please help!!
