Meet Penny: A Story of Resilience and Transformation
When Penny moved to our community from Oregon, she hoped for a fresh start near her family. Instead, she faced unexpected challenges. With her new trailer home delayed for three months, she found herself couch-hopping and staying in motels, navigating a period of overwhelming uncertainty.
Amid this turmoil, Penny was told she needed multiple teeth extracted—an expense far beyond her reach.
“At that point, I lost it,” Penny recalled.
That’s when she was referred to the Conejo Free Clinic, and everything changed.
"You have no idea," Penny shared. "It’s like somebody up there was on my side. They said, ‘Okay, you’ve suffered enough. We’re going to help you out on this one.’ It was like the stars were aligned.”
Thanks to the compassionate care of Dr. Les Sutton, Sheri Jo, and our incredible dental team, Penny received the treatment she desperately needed for free. After multiple visits and adjustments, Penny’s life was transformed.
“Now I have a full smile,” she said.
“It’s a miracle. I’m so grateful. It’s improved my quality of life so much. I can’t praise this program enough.”
Stories like Penny’s remind us of the profound impact that accessible, compassionate care can have. At the Conejo Free Clinic, we’re honored to be part of these life-changing moments, working alongside a dedicated team of volunteers to provide critical medical, dental, and legal services to those who need them most.
