So thankful to live here.
❗️Ventura County is once again ranked the safest large county in California, according to the newly released State of the Region Report 2025 by the Ventura County Civic Alliance.
The report shows Ventura County recorded 16.67 crimes per 1,000 residents in 2024 — the lowest crime rate among California’s 16 largest counties.
Sheriff Jim Fryhoff said it best:
“Once again, these numbers reflect the positive outcomes of community-partnered policing. We are all lucky to live in a county where public safety is a priority and low crime rates can be counted on by the communities served by our brave men and women in law enforcement.”
Even as many regions saw crime rise in recent years, Ventura County stayed steady, reaching a historic low in 2022 and continuing to outperform every major county statewide.
Key highlights from the report:
• Lowest overall crime rate among large CA counties
• 3rd lowest violent crime rate & 2nd lowest property crime rate
• Crime today is less than half what it was 30 years ago
• Moorpark & Thousand Oaks remain among the safest cities of their size in CA
The report is based on California DOJ crime data, analyzing both violent and property crime across major counties and within local cities.
